Watchdog Approved Diet Pills

Adios

Adios and its higher strength cousin Adios Max are popular natural diet pill that has been available in the UK for some time. The advertisement proved a hit with attractive girls wearing tight pink shiny hot pants dancing down the street! With the slogan the “Must be the adios effect”! We see if this diet pill can say “adios” to your excess weight!

Sadly the ads are not seen anymore as Adios has been on the market for a number of years now. That said, Adios is still sold in a number of High Street shops in the UK and remains one of the cheapest diet pills on the market.

Adios Pros

  • One of the cheapest diet pills on the market

Adios Cons

  • Lack of clinical evidence
  • May cause water weight and not fat loss
  • Consumer complaints of side effects

Adios Review

Adios Facts

  • Popular UK diet pill on the market since 2001
  • Adios Max higher strength version
  • Available in high street shops and online

Adios is marketed as a natural slimming aid that is available in two versions, the original Adios yellow box and Adios Max in a bright pink box. The only other difference between them is Adios Max contains 120mg of the main ingredient, Fucus Dry Extract, instead of 45mg in the original Adios.

A few years ago Adios frequently appeared on UK television adverts between popular TV shows. The advert featured three women happily jumping down the street in pink hot pants to the theme tune of “Burn, baby burn”!

The Adios EffectWe decided to pick up a few samples of Adios and Adios Max from Boots, a popular pharmacy in the UK that stocks a large range of health, beauty and essential everyday items.

We found both versions to be available online from a number of retailers at different prices, with and without money-back guarantees.

The branding and packaging of Adios is very much aimed at women looking to lose a few pounds.

What Does Adios Claim To Do?

The official Adios website claims that Adios is:

the UK’s No1 herbal slimming tablet, is an effective natural way to help you lose weight and feel great quickly and easily. It’s already helped women everywhere say ‘Adios!’ to weight they don’t want.

So What Is Adios and Adios Max?

Adios is manufactured in the UK by Diomed Herbals Ltd who produces a few licensed herbal medicines that help weight loss, reduce stress and combats tiredness.

Adios has been on the market since 2001 and should be used in conjunction with a calorie controlled diet and regular exercise.

Difference Between Adios and Adios Max

As we have mentioned there are two versions of Adios distinguished by the colour of the box packaging.

The only difference between the Original Adios and Adios Max diet pills, apart from the different colour packing, is the amount of Fucus Dry Extract included.

The Original Adios contains 45mg of Fucus Dry Extract whereas Adios Max contains 120mg (equivalent to 600mg fucus) and so suggested to be more effective.

What Are The Ingredients For Adios?

Only natural herbal ingredients are used in both the Original and Max versions of Adios diet pills, these are:

  • Fucus Dry Extract (45mg / 120mg) – Seaweed extract that contains high amounts of Iodine. Low levels of Iodine are thought to cause low levels of an important thyroid hormone called Throxin responsible for maintaining a healthy metabolism.
  • Boldo Dry Extract – Strong laxative that works similar to Dandelion root and increases fluid loss.
  • Butternut – Also Known as Juglans cinerea or the white walnut, which accelerates defecation and also thought to treat dysentery and other stomach and intestinal discomfort.
  • Dandelion Root – Strong diuretic that increases water loss by increasing trips to the toilet.

So What Does All This Mean?

Adios contains a natural herbal ingredient called Fucus Dry Extract that aims to boost your metabolism so that you increase fat burning without negative side effects.

Weight loss results are dependent upon eating a calorie-controlled diet plan with regular activity.

As some of the ingredients in Adios are strong diuretics you are likely to visit the toilet more often.

Does Adios Have Any Side Effects?

The manufacturer suggests side effects are possible is you are sensitive to any of the ingredients within Adios or Adios Max.

Adios and Adios Max are not suitable for vegans but are fine for vegetarians.

Any Adios Reviews From Customers?

Adios has received mixed feedback from consumers with Amazon shoppers giving it a majority of “1 star” in their reviews.

Several consumers have reported hair loss and stomach aches whilst taking Adios Max. The size of the pill has also been mentioned to be large and not easy to swallow.

I bought these hoping to lose weight however did not find them effective at all! I ended up with a loss of and thinning hair, stomach ache and nausea after taking them but no weight loss at all.

aylichka, April 2012

I bought some of these in a bid to lose my last stone. After an hour or two of taking the tablets, I was getting stomach ache. After a week this was accompanied by appalling wind. They are really large ‘horse’ tablets, so not easy to swallow.

So Does Adios and Adios Max Work?

The amount of weight you can lose is not specified when taking Adios or Adios Max. The manufacturer does claims that the ingredients used in Adios have been traditionally used to help people lose excess weight, as part of a calorie-controlled diet with exercise.

In fact, any weight loss that occurs when taking Adios is likely to be from the calorie-controlled diet and exercise!

There are no clinical studies to back up any claims made by Adios or Adios Max and relies on evidence on the effects of Iodine levels maintaining healthy thyroid activity.

Low levels of thyroid activity have been suggested to contribute to a low metabolism but unless you suffer from iodine deficiency we doubt Adios will boost your metabolism.

Other ingredients in Adios work to increase water loss, which may give the appearance of weight loss as it will help to dehydrate you. Diuretic based diet pills do not help long-term weight loss, with weight soon returning when you stop taking the pills.

Where Can I Buy Adios and Adios Max?

Both Adios and Adios Max is available from high street stores in the UK, such as Boots and Holland Barrett for between £8 and £10.

You can also buy Adios and Adios Max online from Evolution Slimming, Boots Online store and Amazon. Purchasing from Evolution Slimming costs slightly more but you get a 30-day money-back guarantee and free UK delivery is possible.

Watch Dog Verdict

The Adios range of diet pills is very user friendly with good branding and easy to see why it was popular some 10 years ago with woman looking to lose a few pounds.

But looking at whether the ingredients Adios will actually help you lose weight reveals another story. The recent negative consumer reports complaining about side effects are also a concern!

Adios is very cheap, possibly being the lowest priced diet pills on the market. Even still we would suggest saving your money for better diet pills that work. The fact is the lack of clinical studies to back up its claims and that any weight loss is probably due to water loss and dehydration, we do not recommend Adios diet pills! Instead we would recommend diet pills that have been proven to boost your metabolism.

Adios worked for me.. I lost a stone in a week!! Over night I was 10.8 and the next morning was 9.8.. the only problem I found is I was taking more then I was meant to and you have to keep taking them to keep the weight off they also brought on depression but hey least I looked good. My partner made me stop taking them but I’m going back on them because they worked and I looked great. I also exercised daily and only ate once a day and that did help. I found it quick and my confidence was amazing definitely going back on them asap!!!

    • carla says:

have u been excersising and eating healthy? also is there any side effects? i wuld like to lose about a stone asap but i dont want to be in the loo all the time …? xx

    • Jon says:

Why in the world would you make yourself unhealthy to look good? That is the stupidest thing I have ever heard of. Coming from a depressed person, a depression is something you want to avoid at all costs. Just do a bit more exercise. Also, not eating will cause far more fat gain than you realize. Do some god damn research instead of listening to Television.

      • Bit wobbly says:

Find it unbelievable that someone would think that being depressed and only eating enough to keep a bird alive is more attractive than a few sexy curves that most real men love!!!

    • lorelle says:

What an unhealthy attitude to have, I can’t believe I just read that, your either a troll or have a mental health issue

  2. kayleigh says:

  3. hannah says:

im 18 and i have been taking these tablets for one week and 3 days , in the first day or two i had to go to the toilet often but other than that they have been amazing! iv lost 7 pound in one week and have still been having takeaways ect and they work really well !

  4. Amanda says:

I was paying attention till this review said that the pills where like “horse pills”? They’re no bigger than an apple pip!!! They are tiny!
I’ve been stuck at 11st 10 for over a month, I’ve finally shifted to 11st 9 after one day of adios. Might be a coincidence, I am on a diet and exercise a lot too but I was doing that when I was stuck at 11st 10.

    • JUDITH HALL says:

I have taken adios before with great success, I have just started a new pack as I need to lose a stone after eating for comfort with a few personal issues. I agree about the size of the pills I had to look at them again so I was pleased when someone else thought they were not hard to take or huge. I find they stop me snacking. I drink a lot of dandelion tea as it is good for liver function so I don’t really notice the fluid loss. I also drink lots of water. I have never had stomach problems or bowel problems with Adios. I have with many other diet pills so I am going back to what works for me. Everyone is different and things that work for some may not work for others.

  5. GARRY says:

These are totally usless, been on them a month no weight loss dont waste your money

  6. Janet says:

i have been using adios max on and off for about 4 years, its worked every time, it shifts additional water weight bt if you keep to a balanced diet you should not suffer any adverse effects.

I didn’t notice going to the toilet more than usual, again it would depend on how much water you drink any how.

Any diet pill or supplement should always go hand in hand with a very good diet and exercise program.

  7. Karen S says:

These worked for me too. They took a couple of weeks to show any signs of working One drawback, I do tend to get hot if I eat a high calorie food, maybe it’s the metabolism booster. I also get hot at night so I drink lots of fluids. Great product, does what it says for me.

  8. H says:

Adios are a diuretic they just make you wee a lot. All you are losing is water not fat

    • Bit wobbly says:

Which will make u dehydrated ,which will make ur skin dry ,which will give u wrinkles,,, skinny with wrinkles,,, no thanks !!!!

  9. a says:

Has anyone here who has taken Adios Max experienced horrible, angry, sore spots on their face and body? I never had spots before taking Adios Max, but since taking them I look like I’m going through puberty all over again :(

  10. Tina says:

These work for me,but not physically as i think that”why take the pill and then indulge in junk food”It reminds me at meal times that i’m watching what i eat.I actually think that i do not have a big appetite when taking Adios.Mentally they work for me!!!!
Not noticed any side effects.Happy customer

  11. Kaylee says:

I’ve taken them a few month back & I got down to 12:4 from 13st in two weeks, stopped taking them without any change to my healthy diet or exercise 3 times a week an I slowly creeped back up to 13st.
Currently have some on order, they clearly helped me without any side effects :)

  12. Pamela says:

Three years ago I started taking Adios. They certainly worked for me. In 3 months I lost 1 1/2 stone and that was without much exercise. I didn’t have any side effects whatsoever and I found I was eating much less because I just wasn’t feeling hungry. I can’t believe anyone can lose a stone in a week, its not a very healthy way to go about it. I would take Adios again and do more exercise this time.

  13. katie says:

I’ve just started these pills because my weight has been like a yo yo . Lost 9 pounds before Christmas to fit in my dress since I’ve been eating I’ve put 4 pounds on so I really hope these work xxx

  14. Laura says:

I’m a healthy 31 year old and have being taking Adios max tablets now for around 2-3 weeks and can honestly say with regular exercise (gym and aqua fit/swimming 3-4 times per week) and by eating little and often and cutting out rubbish although occasional treats like chocolate!!..I have lost weight, feel more trim, clothes fit better etc. I’d give them 5 stars!. I agree though that you do seem to need the toilet slightly more often but not so much it becomes annoying. I’ve also had no stomach ache, no loss of hair etc. Would Definatly recommend.x

  15. Laura says:

Also I try not to eat beyond around 6-6.30pm, drink plenty of water, very very rarely drink alcohol. I think they’re great!. Only thing I’m wondering now is I’m about to start taking the contraceptive pill Cerazette and I’m wondering will taking the adios max pills interrupt the pill with them being herbal!?…heard before certain herbal tablets/meds can.

  16. JUDITH HALL says:

I think Adios do help with weight loss without side effects for me. Good food and exercise (doesn’t have to be a gym workout 30 min brisk walk) will help.
