Adios is a natural slimming aid that is available in two versions, Adios and Adios Max. Adios contains a natural herbal ingredient called Fucus Dry Extract that aims to boost your metabolism so that you increase fat burning without negative side effects.
However, can this diet pill really say “adios” to your excess weight? We investigate Adios and Adios Max for you!
Pros
Cons
Adios contains a natural herbal ingredient called Fucus Dry Extract that aims to boost your metabolism so that you increase fat burning without negative side effects.
Weight loss results are dependent upon eating a calorie-controlled diet plan with regular activity.
As some of the ingredients are strong diuretics you are likely to visit the toilet more often.
The manufacturer suggests side effects are possible if you are sensitive to any of the ingredients.
Both are available from high street stores in the UK, such as Boots, for between £6 and £10.
It is marketed as a natural slimming aid that is available in two versions, the original yellow box, and Max in a bright pink box. The only other difference between them is Adios Max contains 120mg of the main ingredient, Fucus Dry Extract, instead of 45mg in the original.
Both diet pills are manufactured in the UK by Diomed Herbals Ltd, who produces a few licensed herbal medicines that help weight loss, reduce stress, and combats tiredness.
It has been on the market since 2001 and should be used in conjunction with a calorie controlled diet and regular exercise.
A few years ago Adios frequently appeared on UK television adverts between popular TV shows. The advert featured three women happily jumping down the street in pink hot pants to the theme tune of “Burn, baby burn”!
We decided to pick up a few samples from Boots, a popular pharmacy in the UK that stocks a large range of health, beauty, and essential everyday items.
Take one tablet three times a day, usually at mealtimes, as part of a calorie controlled diet and extra exercise.
We found both versions to be available online from a number of retailers at different prices, with and without money-back guarantees.
The branding and packaging are very much aimed at women looking to lose a few pounds.
As we have mentioned, there are two versions of Adios distinguished by the colour of the box packaging.
The only difference between the Original and Max diet pills, apart from the different colour packing, is the amount of Fucus Dry Extract included.
The Original contains 45mg of Fucus Dry Extract whereas Adios Max contains 120mg (equivalent to 600mg fucus) and so suggested to be more effective.
The official website claims that Adios is:
the UK’s No1 herbal slimming tablet, is an effective natural way to help you lose weight and feel great quickly and easily. It’s already helped women everywhere say ‘Adios!’ to weight they don’t want.
The amount of weight you can lose is not specified when taking Adios or Adios Max. The manufacturer does claims that the ingredients used have been traditionally used to help people lose excess weight, as part of a calorie-controlled diet with exercise.
In fact, any weight loss that occurs when taking Adios is likely to be from the calorie-controlled diet and exercise!
There are no clinical studies to back up any claims made by Adios or Adios Max and relies on evidence on the effects of Iodine levels maintaining healthy thyroid activity.
Low levels of thyroid activity have been suggested to contribute to a low metabolism but unless you suffer from iodine deficiency, we doubt it will boost your metabolism.
Other ingredients work to increase water loss, which may give the appearance of weight loss as it will help to dehydrate you. Diuretic-based diet pills do not help long-term weight loss, with weight soon returning when you stop taking the pills.

Only natural herbal ingredients are used in both the Original and Max diet pills, these are:
The manufacturer suggests side effects are possible if you are sensitive to any of the ingredients within either product.
Do not use if:
Keep all medicines out of the sight and reach of children. This is a medicine; consult your doctor or pharmacist if you have an underlying medical condition, are taking any other medication or complementary therapy, or if symptoms persist. Seek advice before using if you are breastfeeding, pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or suffer from allergies. Keep all medicines out of the reach of children.
It has received mixed feedback from consumers with Amazon shoppers giving it a majority of “1 star” in their reviews.
Several consumers have reported hair loss and stomach aches whilst taking Adios Max. The size of the pill has also been mentioned to be large and not easy to swallow.
I bought these hoping to lose weight however did not find them effective at all! I ended up with a loss of and thinning hair, stomach ache and nausea after taking them but no weight loss at all.
aylichka, April 2012
I bought some of these in a bid to lose my last stone. After an hour or two of taking the tablets, I was getting stomach ache. After a week this was accompanied by appalling wind. They are really large ‘horse’ tablets, so not easy to swallow.
jojo, September 2009
This all depends on the place of purchase, but it is not likely that many of the stores and sites will offer a money-back guarantee.
Both are available from high street stores in the UK, such as Boots, for between £6 and £10.
You can also buy them online from Evolution Slimming, Boots Online store, and Amazon. Purchasing from Evolution Slimming costs slightly more but you get a 30-day money-back guarantee and free UK delivery is possible.
The range of diet pills is very user-friendly with good branding, and it easy to see why it was popular some 10 years ago with women looking to lose a few pounds.
But looking at whether the ingredients will actually help you lose weight reveals another story. The recent negative consumer reports complaining about side effects are also a concern!
It is very cheap, possibly being the lowest priced diet pills on the market. Even still we would suggest saving your money for better diet pills that work. The fact is the lack of clinical studies to back up its claims and that any weight loss is probably due to water loss and dehydration, we do not recommend Adios diet pills! Instead, we would recommend diet pills that have been proven to boost your metabolism.
Apart from the different coloured boxes and slightly higher cost of Adios Max, the only other difference is in the ingredient amount of Fucus (in dry extract form).
There is 45mg of Fucus in the Adios Original version compared to a much higher dose of 120mg in the Adios Max strength tablets.
You are recommended to take one tablet at meal times each day, ensuring you take a maximum of 4 tablets per day. Whilst taking Adios tablets you are advised to follow a calorie-controlled diet.
These supplements are on the whole likely to be safe but if you are sensitive to any of the ingredients then you are advised to avoid taking Adios. You can read about the Adios ingredients in our review.
Avoid If: Hypersensitive to any of the ingredients or to iodine or to plants of the Asteraceae (Compositae) family (Adios Tablets contain Dandelion root).
You are being treated for any serious medical condition such as thyroid disorder, cholangitis, liver disease, gallstones, active peptic ulcer and any other biliary disorders, renal failure, diabetes or heart failure.
There aren’t any customer testimonials on the official website so we took a look at the Amazon feedback for both supplements.
We current ratings of 2.9 out of 5 stars from 104 reviews to date, Adios Max Strength hasn’t impressed many of the consumers who have tried it. Over 60% of the consumers rate it 3 stars or less!
The regular Adios supplement has only 15 reviews and an even poorer rating of 2.1 out of 5 stars. The Adios range of supplements hasn’t impressed the public it seems.
Unfortunately not. As is the case with many brands stocked predominantly on the high street, purchases made in-store only have a return policy that is based on if the supplement is damaged.
If you take the supplement and it doesn’t work or worse, you have side effects, then there is no money-back guarantee.
You can buy both strengths of Adios on eBay from a number of sellers with varying prices ranging from £4.99 to over £8.00 for 100 tablets. Be on the lookout for shipping prices though as many of the cheaper prices come with shipping costs from £2.80 or more.
Amazon stock both versions of Adios too from the manufacturer, with prices ranging from £6 upwards for 100 tablets. If you wish to ensure you are taking the real product you may wish to opt for buying through Amazon.
The official Adios website doesn’t provide a direct way to buy their supplement, instead, you are advised to seek “Independent Pharmacies” or “Independent Health Food Stores”.
If you don’t wish to buy on the high street from the likes of Boots, Holland and Barrett, Waitrose, Lloyds Pharmacy or Superdrug then Amazon is probably your best option.

Took adios max for a week, ate less and began to exercise a lot more. After a week I had jumped up 2 dress sizes and gained a stone (all fat no muscle)
WORST PILLS EVER!
Stopped taking them and carried on the new diet and exercise and have now lost a lot more.
Do not waste your money on these
I bought Adios hoping to loose weight but all I lost was water. I was up five to six times per the night to visit the toilet so was beginning to dehydrate, what with this and the lack of sleep I was making myself ill. Two days after stopping Adios things went back to normal.
I have just started taking adios today.. I will keep you all updated daily… Fingers crossed it will work.. I’m not fat by no means, but just need to lose maybe a stone to feel more energetic?
