Below we take an in-depth look to see whether Alphatox Slimming Tea could aid weight loss or not.
Alphatox Slimming Tea is a weight loss tea that comes in 7 or 14 day packages.
It is manufactured by Alphatox Premium Fitness Teas. The company do not provide their address or location on their official website, but the company appears to be based in the USA. Alphatox describe themselves as ‘a Health & Fitness Lifestyle Company aiming to help in the efforts of promoting a healthier generation through natural means.’
What is interesting about the marketing of this product is that Alphatox claim that the blend does not cause any laxative effects, when the main ingredient used in the tea is senna, an FDA approved herbal laxative. Fennel is also another laxative ingredient used in the product, and the tea also features some diuretic ingredients that will increase the urine output.
Perfect before you go to bed, very low in natural caffeine content which won’t keep you up or jittery. We recommend taking this blend in the evening however it’s also a perfect after workout blend! Consume Up To 2 Times a Day. Additional consumption will not yield as much additional results and may not be required. Results will vary depending on several factors such as diet and general lifestyle activities.
The manufacturers of Alphatox Slimming Tea have provided the following description of their Slimming Tea:

It also reduces appetite, and aids in digestion which all culminates to weight loss. There is no experience any laxative effects from our blends however a pleasurable relief of any bloating you may have.
They add that:
1 Teabag a Day Keeps The Bad Fats Away
You May Enjoy At Any Time of The Day or Night.
The ingredients used in Alphatox Slimming Tea are listed below. The individual ingredient quantities are not listed. However, as the product is a tea, the effects will be more noticeable if the teabag is brewed for longer, especially the laxative effects from senna. The manufacturers of the tea recommend brewing a teabag for between three and five minutes before drinking.
The quantity of catechins in tea varies hugely, not just between types of tea, but even individual brands. There are some studies that suggest that in general tea bags contain smaller quantities of catechins per weight than loose leaf tea.
Both Sencha green tea and pu’erh tea could theoretically aid weight loss by slightly increasing thermogenesis in the body. However, without knowing the quantity or quality of any of these teas, it is not possible to directly compare the ingredients in Alphatox to relevant clinical trials. Brewing time and product quality would both have a strong impact upon the amount of catechins present in a beverage made with Alphatox. Drinking a weight loss tea is much more unpredictable in terms of its benefits compared to a capsule containing the same ingredients.
The time spent brewing the tea will also impact the other active ingredients used in Alphatox Slimming tea, especially the laxative ingredients. There are numerous laxative and diuretic ingredients found in Alphatox Slimming Tea. Senna, Rhubarb and Fennel all act as laxatives, whilst Holy Thistle Leaf, and the caffeine found in Pu’erh Leaf and Sencha Green Tea act as diuretics.
The laxative ingredients will increase bowel movements and could create the impression of weight loss. They will not affect fat mass or long term weight loss. The diuretic ingredients could reduce bloating, giving the impression of a flatter stomach and leaner physique. As cells become dehydrated, especially those in muscles, the body could appear leaner with a ‘tighter’ look to the skin. Dehydration is a risk with this product. The long term use of laxatives is not recommended, and so consumers should not use this product in the long term.
Lemongrass is used as a digestive aid, but it may also add to the taste of the tea. It could mitigate some of the laxative effects of the tea, but increased bowel movements and diarrhoea are still likely effects of the tea.
Alphatox Slimming Tea contains a small amount of naturally occurring caffeine. Caffeine can lead to headaches, increased heart rate, increased blood pressure, heart palpitations, increased urination, dehydration, jitteriness, dizziness and insomnia. Sencha green tea can also cause constipation.
Senna is a strong, natural laxative; sennosides, the active ingredient in senna, are activated by natural bacteria in the large intestine. These then stimulate the nerve endings in the large intestine, causing the muscles in the intestinal wall to contract, encouraging movement through the bowels. This can cause painful stomach cramps.
Laxatives can interfere with the absorption of the contraceptive pill, as well as the absorption of other medications and vitamin supplements. Consumers should consult their doctor if they have any concerns about using this product in conjunction with the contraceptive pill.
Using laxatives can lead to both dehydration and a deficiency of electrolytes, which can both lead onto more serious side effects, especially if not dealt with properly. Calcium, chlorine, magnesium, phosphate, potassium, and sodium are all obtained from fluids, supplements, and foods, but increasing fluid output can decrease their levels in the body – even sweating due to exercise can significantly lower electrolyte levels. Side effects of low levels of electrolytes include muscle cramps, dizziness, fatigue, nausea, vomiting, trembling, muscle weakness, and stiff or aching joints. In the most severe cases, more serious symptoms can occur, such as low blood pressure, tachycardia (rapid heart rate), sunken eyes, confusion or loss of consciousness for even a brief moment, and poor skin elasticity. If any of these occur, a medical professional should be consulted immediately.
Regular and long term use of laxatives can also lead to dependency upon them, as the bowel’s muscles become weaker over time. Check out our article on the dangers of using laxatives for weight loss for more information.
The absorption of the contraceptive pill can be affected by the use of laxatives such as senna. Not suitable for anyone under the age of 18. Not suitable for pregnant or lactating women. If you are taking medication or have a medical condition, consult a physician before using this product. Not to be used by those who have high blood pressure or other cardiac related health problems, those who are sensitive to caffeine or other stimulants.
There are several customer reviews for Alphatox Slimming Tea that have been left on the official product website. They are all positive, but some reviewers do accept that some, if not all of the weight that they lose in the first few days of using the product is due to a loss of water weight.
I feel way better and I just got the tea 2-3 days ago I take it twice a day & have noticed great changes already, my weight went down by 3 pounds (probably water weight + some fat) & the taste is so good that I don’t have to add any honey, i’ll be back!
I’m a tea drinker anyways, so why not drink a tea that’s gonna cleanse me?! This tea tastes amazing and I started shedding fat after just three days. I was eating healthy and exercising moderately, but nothing extreme. Anyone can do this.
So I am a very big tea drinker. I have tried many brands and flavors. Being from the Caribbean I wanted a more detailed taste. Luckily, I found Alphatox. The combination create a satiety feeling. Leaving you wanting more. Love it!
The tea is super delicious and I love it. I will continue to order LOVE THE TEAAAA!

fast shipping, fast delivery, I lost 5 pounds I think probably some water weight but I have no doubt it works! Just got the bundle
There are some ingredients found in Alphatox that could potentially aid a small amount of weight loss when taken regularly over time. These are two different types of tea; whilst Pu’Erh has very little evidence to suggest that it is better at aiding weight loss than other types of tea, it does contain some caffeine and some catechins, which cause mild increases to the metabolism and thermogenesis respectively. Sencha Green Tea is a type of green tea; green tea is high in catechins and also contains a small amount of naturally occurring caffeine, and so will also aid weight loss. Although it is probably more effective than Pu’Erh tea, it will still only have a small effect upon the consumer’s rate of weight loss.
The other ingredients used in Alphatox Slimming Tea are not linked with increased thermogenesis, an increased metabolism or fat burning. Senna and fennel are both laxative ingredients, and so will cause an increase in bowel movements. This will potentially aid some temporary weight loss as the consumer loses both water weight and waste matter from their system. However, it will not affect fat mass or aid long term weight loss.
Whilst in the first few days of drinking Alphatox Slimming Tea consumers will lose some weight, it is just water weight. It is unlikely that Alphatox Slimming Tea will aid any significant or long term weight loss. The active ingredients that could aid weight loss need to be taken for a longer period than the 14 day maximum that laxative ingredients (and therefore this product) should be used for.
There are two slimming tea options on the official Alphatox website, a 7 day option and a 14 day option. The 7 day option costs $20.00 whilst the 14 day option costs $32.00. Delivery charges may apply.
Alphatox offer a 14 day satisfaction guarantee on their products. They do not state whether this is from the date of purchase or the date of delivery. This is not stated on their website, but the customer service team were happy to help us and answer our questions when we contacted them via facebook.
Customers looking for a refund should contact the company for full details of how and where to return the product.
The manufacturers of Alphatox Slimming Tea claim that this product does not cause any laxative side effects, but seeing as it consists of several laxative ingredients, we find this incredibly difficult to believe. The manufacturers are using misleading marketing to sell their tea product, a practice that, unsurprisingly, we dislike.
Looking at the ingredients used in the Slimming Tea, we find it unlikely that consumers would lose significant amounts of weight using this product, other than temporary water weight and loss of waste matter from increased urinating and bowel movements.
The product is covered by a 14 day satisfaction guarantee, but the website lacks clear information about how to get this refund, whether it starts from the date of the order or from the date of delivery.
Overall, we do not recommend Alphatox Slimming Tea to our readers.
