Nutratech, the company behind Atrafen, make some pretty bold claims, specifically that after four weeks taking this product you can expect average weight loss of 10-20 pounds for women, and 15-25 pounds for men. There may be a fat burning effect caused by this product, but not at the levels quoted. Atrafen is sold on Amazon, has lots of reviews that appear to have been made in exchange for free bottles of product, and has an identical ingredients list to another product, PhenElite.
Pros
Cons
Below, we take an in-depth look at Atrafen to see how effective it is at aiding weight loss.
Atrafen is a weight loss aid that the manufacturers claim will suppress the appetite and promote fat burning and ‘extreme weight loss’. The official Nutratech website even states that the typical results for a four week course of the supplement (one bottle) is 10-20 pounds of weight loss for women, and 15-25 pounds of weight loss for men.
Atrafen is sold by a company called Nutratech Health LLC. They are based in Houston, Texas. They can be contacted via email at [email protected] or via amazon.
Atrafen appears to have an identical ingredients list to a supplement called PhenElite, which we have previously reviewed here. Often smaller diet pill companies will outsource their manufacturing processes to another company, as obviously it is very expensive to set up a manufacturing plant. Some companies that manufacturer supplements for other companies sell some formulas to numerous companies, as a pre-packaged product that they just need to name and select the packaging for, and so it is likely that the pills in a bottle of PhenElite and a bottle of Atrafen are indeed identical, with the main differences between companies being their pricing, customer service, returns policies and marketing.
The product uses grapefruit extract, which can interact with medications and greatly increase the risk of side effects and overdose, and yet the manufacturers do not warn consumers about this risk at all. There are numerous ingredients used in Atrafen have little or no clinical support from trials using human participants. Raspberry Ketone has only been tested in rodents and test tubes, whilst African Mango studies have generally been small, biased, and funded directly by manufacturers of African Mango supplements.
Atrafen is available from amazon, with a single bottle costing $39.99, plus shipping charges.
Each bottle contains 60 capsules, but there are no directions for use provided on the website, and so it is not clear exactly how long the supplement will last for. We suspect, based upon customer reviews thatconsumers are instructed to take two capsules per day, and so a single bottle would last for 30 days of use.
The product is available from the manufacturers official website. A single bottle costs $39.99, whilst larger orders can be made with discounts taken off the price.

When trying to establish whether a product will actually work, we look at the ingredients used, the quantities that they are used in, and also turn to customer reviews, to see how the product works in practice.
Many of the ingredients used in Atrafen have limited or no clinical support linking them to weight loss, with green tea and caffeine being the exceptions. Green tea and caffeine both have support from numerous clinical trials indicating that they could aid a small amount of additional weight loss when combined with a calorie restricted diet and regular exercise. However, the effect is small, and its effects could easily be counteracted by even a small amount of overeating.
Raspberry Ketone has only ever been tested in rodents and in test tube studies, neither of which are a 100% accurate measure of weight loss capabilities. African Mango has only been tested in small trials funded by diet pill companies, and researchers are not even certain of the mechanism by which it could aid weight loss. Resveratrol is an antioxidant, and so could benefit general health, but again, has never been linked directly with weight loss. Acai berry is yet another ingredient that has been wrongly hyped as a weight loss aid, with no clinical evidence at all suggesting that it is a metabolism boosting ingredient, nor an appetite suppressant.
Studies that found that apple cider vinegar had a suppressant effect upon appetite used actual apple cider vinegar, rather than a processed powdered form in a capsule supplement, and so whilst in theory this ingredient could act as an appetite suppressant, in reality, its effects in capsule form are unknown.
Atrafen could theoretically aid some weight loss, but there are ingredients that have little or no clinical support, and the product can also cause a wide range of side effects.
According to the manufacturers of Atrafen, the product has the following benefits:
They add:
The ingredients in Atrafen have been shown in clinical trials to help the body to prevent weight gain from excess calories (Raspberry Ketones), regulate blood sugar and cortisol levels (Green Coffee Bean Extract), stimulate the nervous system to help break down fat (Caffeine), boost fat oxidation (Green Tea Extract), and even help improve insulin sensitivity and block new fat cells from forming (Resveratrol). And these are just a few of the ingredients contained in this powerful formula!
We go into more detail about each ingredient below, but some of these claims are incorrect or exaggerated and twisted summaries of the available clinical trials, especially the description of Raspberry Ketones.
Its ingredients are scientifically proven to aid weight loss and you are covered by a full 60-day money-back guarantee from a trusted company, making Phentatrim a very popular choice in the diet world.

The ingredients used in Atrafen are listed below. No individual ingredient quantities are listed. Each single capsule serving contains 600 mg of the proprietary formula.
Proprietary formula 600 mg
These ingredients could potentially cause a wide range of side effects. As the manufacturers have neglected to provide any individual ingredient quantities, it is not possible to establish the likelihood that any of these side effects will develop or to establish the actual potency and effectiveness of the supplement.
Consuming large quantities of caffeine can lead to headaches, increased heart rate, increased blood pressure, heart palpitations, increased urination, dehydration, jitteriness, dizziness and insomnia. Green tea can also cause constipation.
Raspberry Ketone is under-researched at this time, especially in the large doses used in supplements, and so there are no known side effects. Some consumers of other raspberry ketone products have noted raspberry flavoured breath and burps, but this seems to be the worst side effect reported.
African mango can cause flatulence, headaches and sleep problems. Grapefruit can interact with medications and can therefore be dangerous, as it increases the chances of accidental overdose, and increases the chances of other side effects from medications developing. It interferes with the effectiveness of the contraceptive pill as well, but the manufacturers fail to warn consumers about this!
Apple cider vinegar can lower blood sugar levels, which could lead to feeling lightheaded, dizziness, and even fainting (which are all more likely if the consumer hasn’t eaten that day and therefore already has low blood sugar levels).

There are numerous customer reviews for this supplement. The majority are positive, but one reviewer noted that they received a note with their delivery offering a free bottle in exchange for leaving a product review. They included a picture of the note, which ends with ‘We appreciate your support, and if you have any issues with this product at all, please contact us before leaving your review so that we can ensure a great experience.’
This statement throws up serious warning flags, as it sounds like the customer service reps are trying to prevent customers leaving negative reviews by placating them, possibly with free products, in the hopes of swaying their opinion of the product and company. This offer also means that many, if not the majority of the customer reviews are biased, as the customers have effectively been bribed with the offer of a free weight loss supplement.
I just received this product and included in the package was a paper asking me write a review and I will receive a free bottle. This has led me to believe all of these 5 star reviews are from people who were interested in receiving a free bottle. While the paper doesn’t say you must write a positive review to receive your free gift, I don’t think people would write a negative view when they are looking for a hand out.I will update my review after trying this product and please know that my review will be honest because I am not looking for a free bottle
I’ve been on this for 16 days. It sometimes curbs my appetite a little bit, but honestly? I wanted to drop 5 lbs and I haven’t lost any weight. I’ve been watching the snacking and exercising. I think I’m going to ask for a refund.
I am still on first bottle. I haven’t seen a difference but only been a week. I am going to continue to see if staying with it helps me meet my goals.
Doesn’t work. Been taking it for 2 weeks. I feared the majority of the reviews on here were either fake … Or from people motivated by other means then the actual product. It doesn’t surpress appetite, nor has any weight loss been achieved. Looking at the ingredients, it’s nothing proprietary and all can be purchased. Don’t waste your money.
I have taken these pills for 3 days now and lost 3 pounds. I’m sure half of that is water weight. However coming from a girl who likes to eat this has helped tremendously! I have actually taken to go boxes the past 2 nights. I’m very impressed. I didn’t rate 5 stars because I haven’t taken it long enough to truly critique.
5 star potential. I’m giving my review a little early, (AtraFen) as it’s that good. I only have 8-12 pounds to lose but, it seems to be pretty tough. Getting my mental “game-face” on for losing weight is the hardest part of the process. Other diet Pills Don’t work for me, & I’ve bought my share thinking it will help me go in the right direction. This one is different as I bought it only to curb my cravings/appetite. I’m eating less, have great lasting energy that leaves me mentally clear & focused. I also have been walking. Perfect- exactly what I was hoping for. Like I said; it’s early in my review but I’m already down numbers on my scale. This is easily exactly what I needed to not think about food, not be hungry, not even want to eat outside my meal-plan! On easy days I take 1 pill – on my long working days I will take 2. Great Stuff!
I’m impressed with this product as an appetite suppressant. Having bought two bottles I decided to go ahead and finish what I started and after skipping the scale for weeks, I dropped a few inches and was able to fit into some old skinny jeans.
Really enjoying this actually. Had trouble winding down the first night, but my body acclimated well. No bad taste or heartburn either. Feel energized.

We are not impressed by Atrafen and its manufacturing company at all. The company offer free bottles of supplements in exchange for customers leaving a review. The customer reviews do not feature any disclaimers that this practice is happening, and we believe that the majority of customer reviews are incredibly biased. It might also help to explain why the price of the product is higher than identical products available- without realizing it, customers have already paid for their free bottle as the first bottle they purchase has an inflated price tag.
Without an ingredients list that is comprehensive, we cannot confirm how strong this product is, or how effective it will be in reality. There is also a long list of potential side effects that can develop whilst taking Atrafen.
The product appears to be identical to another weight loss supplement, PhenElite, which is available at a much lower price than Atrafen.
Overall, we do not recommend Atrafen to our readers.

it seems like every brand thats not Phentaslim is rejected. 🙁
I don’t believe you guys anymore. I sense some bias in here somewhere.
hmmmm…I bought a bottle of AtraFen Thermodrops for $11.99. Seems other reviews also state the price is the same as what you listed. We’ll see if it helps!!
