AyurSlim Facts

  • Ayurslim is made in India.
  • Contains ingredients used in traditional Ayurvedic medicine.
  • Each bottle contains 60 capsules. 1 month’s supply.

AyurSlim is a weight loss supplement that contains five herbal ingredients and if you are looking for a way to support your weight loss efforts without using dangerous stimulants, you may be tempted. People who are interested in traditional Indian medicine (Ayurvedic) will also be attracted to this supplement.

The principle ingredient is Garcinia Cambogia (Vriksh Amia) at 1200mg a serving. This fruit has long been used medicinally in India for its effects upon the digestion as well as for its sour taste but more recent research suggests that the Hydroxycitric acid (HCA) contained in the rind of the fruit suppresses sugar to fat storage. Blocking this function is believed to be a useful weight loss tool.

Other research suggests that Garcinia Cambogia can improve mood and help prevent food cravings.

The other ingredients are all well known in Ayurvedic medicine for various reasons and have since been touted for their weight loss properties. These include Balsamodendron Mukul extract, more commonly known as Guggul or Guggulsterone, which some evidence suggests, may reduce cholesterol and triglycerides.

The supplement contains Gymnema Sylvestra ( Meshashringi) a natural herb that is unique in reducing the taste of sugar when the leaves are chewed and may prevent sugar cravings too.

The final ingredients are Terminalia Chebula a South Asian tropical fruit that looks similar to a fig and according to the product information will remove toxins from the body, and Fenugreek leaves which appears to have anti diabetic qualities.

AyurSlim comes from Indian company the Himalayan Drug Company, which has been in operation since 1930.

The company look very reputable and you can buy Himalaya products from shops and stores across India as well as online from a wide range of outlets in many countries across the world. The company is based in Bangalore.

The Himalayan Drug Company is a major operation. The “about us” information reveals that although it had humble beginnings with only a hand-cranked tableting machine as its means of production, today Himalaya has the capacity to manufacture over 10 million tablets a day.

Other Himalayan Drug Company supplements include a wide range of pharmaceuticals in all areas, skin creams, beauty products, baby care and animal health. This company seems very well known in India and does not come with any associated scam issues.

How to Take AyurSlim

A dosage of 2 capsules, twice a day is recommended. Ayurslim should be taken fifteen minutes after breakfast and dinner. As the weight reduces, dosage can be reduced to one capsule, twice a day.

AyurSlim Concerns:

  • May cause unpleasant side effects.
  • Even though it is cheap, it is still a waste of money if it does not work.
  • Is it safe? We don’t know for sure.

What Does AyurSlim Claim To Do?

AyurSlim comes with some detailed directions, which we like. Like all supplements, you cannot just sit back and wait for it to work!

Here’s what you can expect from this supplement:

On an average, regular usage of Ayurslim Capsules reduces body weight by 9 kg in a period of 6 months (subject to conditions like level of physical exercise and diet).

For best results, the following points should be kept in mind.

  • Moderate physical activity for about 20 minutes, 3-4 times a week is a must
  • Eat small, frequent meals with dinner being the lightest meal
  • Drink at least 8-10 glasses of water daily
  • Eat more fresh fruits and vegetables and drink more fresh juices
  • Cut down on sweets, colas, fried food, butter, potato chips, cheese and other fatty foods.

All good advice that will help you lose weight!

According to the product information:

…although the effects of Ayurslim are visible within 4-6 weeks, it should be used for at least 3 months to obtain the best results.

So What Is AyurSlim and What Are The Ingredients?

AyurSlim is a general purpose weight loss supplement that comes in the form of fairly large green capsules.

The Himalayan Drug Company did not provide the ingredients amount in the product information but luckily, we were able to obtain a bottle label. Amounts here reflect a daily two capsule serving.

  • Garcinia Cambogia (1200mg): In some places in India, this sour fruit is known as Gummi–Gutta and it is used as a curry condiment. It is also used in traditional Ayurvedic medicine as an aid to digestion.
Garcinia Cambogia has undergone clinical testing for weight loss but most of this has been on animals such as rats, mice and guinea pigs. Human testing has not been as conclusive, with a minimal weight loss effect at best and scientific opinion is that this ingredient needs further investigation before the claims about weight loss can be proven.

  • Balsamodendron Mukul (280mg): More commonly known as Guggul or Guggulsterone this extract derived from the sap of the Commiphora mukul tree, has been used in Ayurvedic medicine to treat arthritis for hundreds of years. However, it may help weight loss because it contains substances believed to reduce cholesterol and triglyceride levels. Can cause side effects.

  • Gymnema Sylvestre (40mg): Natural herb known in Australia as the Australian Cow plant and unique in reducing the taste of sugar when the leaves are chewed. It may reduce sugar cravings too.
Research into this herb is ongoing. The preliminary results have been positive but it requires further testing
    Source: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/12663610
  • Terminalia Chebula (40mg): Native Asian fruit that looks similar to a small fig when growing. There is no English name for Terminalia Chebula but it is well known in Ayurvedic medicine as a universal remedy for just about everything. It is sometimes used for heart disorders and high blood pressure. May cause side effects.
    Source: http://www.webmd.com/vitamins-supplements/terminalia
  • Fenugreek (40mg): Indian spice known for its pungent “curry” smell. It seems to slow absorption of sugars in the stomach and may stimulate insulin. Requires further evidence but looks promising and is safe. Maybe an effective treatment for diabetes but not yet proven.

So What Does All This Mean?

We love the directions and health advice about how to take AyurSlim and if you follow the direction tips you may become healthier and thinner in the bargain. However, we have concerns about some of the ingredients. Terminalia Chebula is undoubtedly a powerful medicinal herb that has benefits when taken under supervision but it may cause side effects. Guggul also comes with concerns.

Garcinia Cambogia is the principle ingredient and although this is generally considered safe, it lacks any real evidence that it will help you lose weight in the way as described. You might not notice any difference to your weight. You may experience side effects.

Does AyurSlim Have Any Side Effects?

AyurSlim may cause potential side effects. These may include:

  • Diarrhoea
  • Gas
  • Bloating
  • Stomach upset
  • Hiccups
  • Vomiting

Not suitable for individuals under 18. Avoid if you are pregnant or breast feeding.
Although the product information says you can continue to use this supplement if you are taking prescription medication or have an underlying medical condition, we advise you to ignore this advice.
You should definitely see your doctor before you take AyurSlim if you are taking medication or have any type of medical condition. You should cease use if you experience side effects.

Any AyurSlim Reviews From Customers?

There are some customer reviews for AyurSlim. There is a mix of opinion.

Some customers have had zero effect from this supplement:

I found these slimming tablets from Himalaya made no visible difference even after weeks of use. Will not be buying again.

Many customers have said much the same.

There are some positive comments although not much detail.

Some customers have reported

Great seller, great product

The good news is that nobody has mentioned side effects.

So Does AyurSlim Work?

AyurSlim does not look that convincing as a weight loss supplement if you base this on customer feedback. Essentially its effectiveness all depends upon the principle ingredient Garcinia Cambogia as to whether it will work or not because at 1200mg a serving, it will have the principle effects.

The truth is that nobody really knows for sure. Garcinia Cambogia does seem to reduce weight in animals but there is no real evidence that it will work in the same way on humans.

There have been many short human clinical trials into this ingredient and although on average participants appear to have lost a couple of extra pounds by using it, many of the tests are questionable. Scientific opinion is that if Garcinia Cambogia does work for weight loss the results are unlikely to be more than extremely small.

Interestingly in the major clinical test carried out on 135 people over 12 weeks, both the control group and the group taking the placebo lost weight with very little difference between the two groups.

Where Can I Buy AyurSlim?

AyurSlim is available from stores and shops across India. You can use the store locator on the website to find your nearest outlet. Prices in rupees are not provided. You have to contact the store by email and ask.

What About A Guarantee

Ayurslim does not come with a guarantee.

Watchdog Verdict

Ayurslim has some good points going for it. The supplement is made by a company who have been in operation since 1930 and appear to be well respected in their own country. We have not found any particular issues with the Himalaya Drug Company or any of their many supplements.

However, it is important to remember that although the pills may be OK, they are not made to the US or UK industry specifications and we can find nothing on the product website to say that it conforms to basic industry and hygiene standards.

India has a booming supplements market but as far as we can see there is zero legislation when it comes to manufacture which is of concern.

Another drawback is that the capsules are big! Not everyone will be happy in taking such a large pill twice a day. Does this suggest that the technology used to make this product is very basic?

A good point is that this supplement is extremely inexpensive. Shop around and you can find it on sale from just about any country in the world and it won’t break the bank to try it. There are plenty of similar looking supplements on the market that cost much more. If you are watching your cash, it does look like a bargain.

However, these good points do not add up to approving AyurSlim.

In our opinion, AyurSlim will probably not work and it may cause side effects so no matter how cheap and available it is, we cannot add this supplement to our approved list.

  1. I used the product for 3 months. I lost 42 pounds and this is not BS. I took capsules in the morning after drinking warm lemon with water, also eating the lemon. Then I took the capsule. 20 – 30 minutes later I ate a small breakfast. To add, Iworked out 4 -5 times a week.
