Base Nutrition is a US supplements company that claims to be fully transparent about their supplement ingredients but provides very little in the way of contact details. If you are a sportsperson, you can become an Ambassador for the company.
Base Nutrition Carb Crush is marketed as a way to enable you to eat without adding to weight, but this so-called Cheat Meal Solution will not work in the way as described.
The three ingredients will not work for this purpose. Chrominex +3 is marketed as a general health supplement and veterinary product with evidence it improves joint health in horses and dogs. Delphinol is packed with antioxidants derived from Macqui berries so is undoubtedly good for health, but like the grape seed extract, is not going to work as a carb crusher as described.
The only result you can expect from this overpriced and useless supplement is a placebo effect. Ignore the so-called testimonials from internet “health influencer” Michelle Lewin. This shady looking fitness trainer was obviously paid for promoting this inadequate supplement to her 13 million fans and if you rely on Carb Crush to make you get a body like Michelle’s, you will be disappointed.
On paper, the ingredients list looks pretty safe. However, many customers have complained of gastrointestinal issues such as nausea, stomach pains, vomiting, and upset stomach.
Base Nutrition Carb Crush is expensive. Each bottle contains 60 capsules (60 servings) which costs $39.97 if you buy directly from the Base Nutrition website.
Shipping is free to US addresses.
You can also find it on sale via Amazon where it costs $35.79.
We do not rate Base Nutrition Carb Crush at all. The best we can say is that any side effects are likely to be temporary, but if you are looking for a way to enjoy a “cheat meal” in the belief that it won’t affect your weight, you will be disappointed.
Even carb blockers that work are not always effective because most weight gain is caused by a blend of ingredients, including fats, sugars, alcohol, and sodas. However, this one is not going to work at all. Although chromium does have some effect upon insulin function, this is not the same as crushing your carbs until they have no impact on your diet.
In addition, why would you want to? According to dietary experts in speaking about Carb Crush,
There is absolutely nothing that a pill can do for your body that a well-balanced diet won’t do better. Eating a variety of complex carbs, protein, essential fats and fruits and vegetables will help your body to thrive.
In our opinion, Carb Crush is actually one of the worst weight loss supplements we have seen in a long time, so there is no way would ever approve such a useless looking product.
Overall, we do not recommend Base Nutrition Carb Crush to our readers.

Carb Crush is a weight loss pill that claims to allow “you to indulge in the sweet treat or savory snack you’ve been craving without the worry of weight gain.”
Carb Crush contains a blend of three ingredients. There is a branded product called Delphinol, which is derived from natural chemicals present in Macqui berries.
It contains a branded chromium supplement called Chrominex 3 +. This is combined with a couple of plant extracts in the formula, derived from Indian Ayervardic treatments.
The final ingredient is Grape seed extract which, according to the advertising, provides a boost of antioxidants and healthy anti-aging benefits. Check out the ingredients tab to find out more.
Carb Crush is not a carb blocker or a fat binder. It does not contain anything that will actually prevent the food that you eat from adding to weight gain. Instead, it is supposed to slow down the rate at which your body converts carbs into glucose, described as the fat creation process. Chromium does help the body manage insulin levels and blood sugar, but it will not prevent a heavy carb meal adding to fat!
Carb Crush has made the international news thanks to the product’s endorsement by so-called fitness influencer Michelle Lewin. She is big on social media with around 13 million followers and when she posed with a bottle of Carb Crush pills, writing “Indulge like crazy….And don’t give a f***”, the whole thing went crazy!
Other internet health professionals were quick to criticise the fitness model. Personal trainer Freddie Ray, the owner of the Three Dumbbells podcast, told Lewin to “sort it out,” “stop being an idiot,” and “rethink your actions.”
Dieticians and medical experts have also criticised the craze for “crushing carbs”, and Lewin in particular for implying that successful weight loss and good health can be achieved by taking a quick fix pill that may also cause unforeseen side effects. The story was featured in the world press including the UK newspaper the Independent. Source
Base Nutrition is a US supplements brand. There is very little background information available about the company, but the advertising is glossy and stylish so does create a positive impression.
We covered Base Nutrition Omega Deluxe in a previous review and did not rate it very highly.
Base Nutrition offers customers the chance to become an Ambassador for the company. At first glance, we assumed this meant that this was a direct marketing company similar to companies like Plexus or Herbal Life. Instead, it seems to be a way of increasing promotion of the brand by the use of athletes and bodybuilders. There are no further details about what sort of payment you can hope to expect or even what you have to do.
However, it seems a sure fire bet that Michelle Lewin is a Base Nutrition Ambassador herself and is paid for endorsing this supplement.
According to the advertising, Carb Crush is an ALL NATURAL CHEAT MEAL SOLUTION
CARB CRUSH allows you to indulge in the sweet treat or savory snack you’ve been craving without the worry of weight gain.
Carb Crush is a clinically-formulated cheat meal supplement that prevents your body from rapidly converting carbs into glucose, slowing down the fat creation process. So, with Carb Crush, you can enjoy a guilt-free, carb-heavy meal with your friends and family.
The key features,
- 100% Natural Macqui Berry prevents carbohydrates from becoming sugar and transforming into fat
- Decreases fat formation during cheat meals
- Prevents sugar crashes after a carb-loaded meal
- Suppresses your appetite and makes you feel fuller, longer
- No fillers, no binders, no artificial ingredients and non-proprietary blend
The advertising provides a brief explanation of how this supposed to work.
The CARB CRUSH cheat meal solution is an amylase-inhibitor, which slows down the rate at which glucose enters the bloodstream.
No. Base Nutrition Carb Crush will not work as described. There is zero evidence that any of the components in this supplement will help “crush carbs” as described. It is not an amalyse inhibitor, a substance that prevents your digestive enzymes from breaking down carbs.
Delphinol is marketed as a general health supplement with a focus on anti-aging because it is so high in antioxidants. Chrominex 3+ is mainly aimed at the vetinerary market as an aid to improve joint pain and inflammation in dogs and horses, although it is also suitable for human consumption.
Grape Seed extract is undoubtedly a healthy material, and similar to Delphiniol, is high in antioxidants so we can conclude that Carb Crush is unlikely to do you any harm. But it definitely will not decrease fat formulation during “cheat meals” or live up to any other of the ludicrous claims made in the advertising.
Serving size is equal to one capsule
Carb Crush looks pretty safe for most people. However, a high proportion of users have suffered gastrointestinal issues including,
Caution:
Not suitable for individuals under 18. Avoid if you are pregnant or breast feeding. Speak to your doctor before using if you have an underlying medical condition or are taking prescription medication.

Some customers aren’t sure whether it works but they still take it!
I can’t really tell if this stuff actually works, but I take it anyway. ….. I can say I haven’t gained any weight since taking these…so that is a plus!
I am not certain how to measure this product, but I can say that I have not had any negative side effects or anything like that. I do notice my blood sugar going down when I first take them, but when I eat carbs after, I do not notice it jumping back up like I usually do, so my body is indicating that something is different when I take the supplement vs. not.
I’m still not 100 percent sold on this product. Definitely feel guilt free when I do indulge but I’m nervous it’s a placebo effect. I haven’t lost or gained any weight but I workout like a beast. The placebo effect is good enough for me to buy this product again but it would be nice if it worked.
Other customers are more enthusiastic,
Best carb crusher out there. Doesn’t feel like it’s just sitting in my stomach all day. Very impressed!
Other customers feel it does not work at all,
This product is a waste of money. If zero stars were an option, I’d chose that. The smell is terrible and the pills are rather large. I workout 5-6 days a week and eat quite clean. I didn’t notice any decrease in my appetite, weight or overall measurements while taking this product.
Terrible! I got sick and a waste of money and scam… Don’t buy this!
There is no money-back guarantee.
You can buy Carb Crush direct from the Base Nutrition website. It is also on sale via Amazon and from some independent supplement retailers.
