What Does Bio Synergy Skinny Protein Shake Claim To Do?

  • Ideal after exercise or between meals
  • Low fat, low calorie shake
  • Packed with protein
  • Delicious and easy to mix
  • Helps burn fat more efficiently

So What Is Bio Synergy Skinny Protein Shake and What Are The Ingredients?

Below are the ingredients used in Bio Synergy Skinny Protein Shake; the ingredient quantities are provided per 40 gram serving. The main source of protein is from Whey protein.

Each serving of 40 grams contains 162 calories, but consumers should remember that this does not include the calories that are present in the drink the product is mixed into.

  • Potassium 155 mg (8% RDA)
  • Calcium 194 mg (24% RDA)
  • Phosphorus 135 mg (19% RDA)
  • Pantothenic Acid 6 mg (100% RDA)
  • Chromium 100 mcg (250% RDA): This is used primarily to lower fasting blood sugar levels and to lower insulin levels in people who have type 2 diabetes. In terms of its potential effect upon weight loss, it is possible that taking chromium picolinate by mouth for 2 to 3 months might produce a small weight loss of about 1.1 kg. Obviously this is an incredibly small amount of weight loss, but studies are still inconclusive.

  • Green Tea extract 200 mg: Green tea is high in a group of antioxidants called catechins. Studies have suggested that catechins increase thermogenesis in the body, whilst caffeine increases energy expenditure by boosting the metabolism slightly for a few hours.

  • L-Carnitine L-Tartrate 100 mg: One study found that supplementation of L-carnitine, L-tartrate reduced muscle tissue damage from exercise and sped up recovery time.

Below is a list of the ‘typical amino acid profile’ of the product. These are the various amino acids that are found in the high protein shake. There are no exact quantities provided, but the percentage of the total protein count is given.

  • Leucine 11.54%: An essential branched chain amino acid which stimulates protein synthesis in the body, and is used as a building block for muscle. Whilst dieting, supplementing Leucine could help to maintain muscle mass whilst still losing fat mass, as it is used to help fuel muscle.
  • Isoleucine 6.22%: Isoleucine appears to promote glucose consumption and uptake. It also plays a role in inducing muscle protein synthesis (although it is not as strong as Leucine).

  • Valine 6.28%: Valine appears to be the least potent of the branched chain amino acids, but will still play a small role in stimulating protein synthesis and promoting glucose consumption and uptake.

(Total branched chain amino acids 24.04%)

So What Does All This Mean?

Protein Shakes such as Bio Synergy Skinny Protein Shake are quick ways of increasing protein intake. They are typically used by consumers who are trying to build muscle through muscle-building exercises, as the body needs a good supply of amino acids to act as the building blocks of new muscle mass.

This protein shake is high in protein and relatively low in calories (depending upon what the powder is mixed with). This should hopefully make it easier for the consumer to gain muscle mass without putting on fat mass from overeating. The product also contains green tea, L-Carnitine-L-Tartrate and chromium; green tea could potentially increase the consumer’s daily calorie burn slightly through increased thermogenesis, and chromium could help to regulate blood sugar levels, which could aid a very small amount of weight loss. L-Carnitine-L-Tartrate, as well as some of the amino acids found in the protein shake, could aid muscle recovery after strenuous exercise.

Does Bio Synergy Skinny Protein Shake Have Any Side Effects?

Some of the ingredients used in Bio Synergy Skinny Protein Shake could cause some side effects.

Green tea contains naturally occurring caffeine; consumption of caffeine can cause a variety of side effects, including headaches, increased heart rate, increased blood pressure, heart palpitations, increased urination, dehydration, jitteriness, dizziness and insomnia.

Chromium can lower blood sugars levels and as such should not be used by diabetics without first consulting their doctor. Low blood sugar levels can lead to light headedness, dizziness and even fainting. Consumers who have not eaten for several hours are more likely to experience these side effects.

Side effects of L-Carnitine-L-Tartrate include stomach upset, nausea, vomiting, and restlessness. It can cause a “fishy” odour of the urine, breath, and sweat, especially when consumed in large quantities.

High protein diets can cause constipation, especially if they are also low fibre.

Caution:
Not recommended for pregnant or breastfeeding women. Not suitable for children. Do not exceed recommended daily dose. Contains caffeine. Not suitable for anyone who is sensitive to caffeine and other stimulant ingredients. Consult your doctor if you are unsure about the suitability of this or any other supplement.

Any Bio Synergy Skinny Protein Shake Reviews From Customers?

There are several customer reviews for Bio Synergy Skinny Protein Shake.

I have used many protein shakes before, but whilst looking for a low carb yet tasty and filling shake, this has been the only one to hit the spot 100%.Tastes amazing and I mix for unsweetened almond milk to get the perfect texture. Love it.

This shake is so horrible, tastes nothing like strawberry, leaves a bitter taste and is so thin and watery even when used with milk/extra shake mixture. waste of money!!

This was overpriced and tasted horrible…Total waste of money, Slim Fast chocolate is wayyy cheaper and tastes delicious!! I threw this out in the end

Delivery for this item was fast and well packaged. I have had other brands in the past that have a more intense chocolate flavour. However, the overall taste is nice and helps me with some of my sweet cravings! I like to make it with 50% Milk 50% Water for a better taste. The protein content is GREAT, but I wish it was under 100 calories a scoop as I often use it as a snack! I recommend blitzing a banana with this for a super smooth and filling breakfast option! YUM!

To be honest I have up with this after I couldn’t bare to drink it! The chocolate tastes vile! And it’s very bitty!

Thought I’d purchase this to lose weight, but the taste is awful. I will try and stick it out and see if it works.

I bought this product to use after the gym and also as a meal replacement, it does work well as a meal replacement it is very filling, i got the strawberry flavour and it isnt great! I do mix mine with almond milk it water for a slimmer shake so maybe it would taste better with normal milk i am not sure, but over all its not bad and using this twice day once in morning after training and then for lunch i lost 5lb in my first week!

So Does Bio Synergy Skinny Protein Shake Work?

Theoretically Bio Synergy Skinny Protein Shake will aid gains in muscle mass when used in combination with the correct exercise routines that promote muscle building. The product could also be used as a meal replacement shake, but the low fibre content means that consumers would probably be hungry again very quickly.

The presence of green tea and chromium is unlikely to aid significant fat loss or weight loss, but it could make a very small increase to the consumer’s rate of weight loss in combination with dieting and exercise.

Where Can I Buy Bio Synergy Skinny Protein Shake?

When purchased from the official Bio Synergy website, a single tub of Skinny Protein Shake, containing 700 grams of the formula, costs £31.99 plus delivery charges. A single tub contains 18 servings and so will not last for very long, especially as consumers are instructed to have up to three servings on training days, and two servings per day on non-training days.

The product is also available from Discount Supplements, a UK website. A tub of the product here costs £25.99, with free delivery on orders over £20.00.

The product is also available from a number of third party online retailers. Discount Supplements stock the product, with a single tub costing £25.99 plus delivery charges.

Watchdog Verdict

Bio Synergy Skinny Protein Shake is an expensive protein shake that has two potential benefits for weight loss; it is supposedly lower in calories than similar protein shakes, and it contains some added ingredients that could potentially aid weight loss by increasing fat and calorie burn. The added weight loss ingredients are unlikely to make much of an impact to weight loss; chromium’s impact is considered tiny, even when used for prolonged periods of time, while green tea has only a ‘small but significant’ effect upon thermogenesis and general weight loss. L-Carnitine L-tartrate has no relation to weight loss but could help recovery after exercise.

The product can also be used as a meal replacement, although we recommend that this is not done for more than one meal per day, as the product contains hardly any fibre. High protein and low fibre diets can cause constipation, and so consumers should ensure that they include plenty of fibre in their diet whilst using this protein shake.

This product is not covered by a money-back guarantee. The manufacturers state that they are confident that consumers will be ‘impressed with the results from our products’ but only accept returns on unopened and unused products.

A single tub of the product contains only 18 servings, which will last for between 6 and 9 days, if used according to the directions for use. This makes the product expensive, especially if it is going to be used in the long term.

Overall, we do not recommend Bio Synergy Skinny Protein Shake to our readers.
