    Carb Blocker Max Facts

    • Made by Slim Zest a British company
    • International shipping costs very reasonable. Just £5.00 worldwide
    • 180 capsules per container – one one’s supply costs £34.95 from the Slim Zest website

Carb Blocker Max is a weight loss supplement that is on sale from Slim Zest – a relatively new UK supplements company based in London. It is a carb blocker – as the name suggests – and the idea is that it will block some of the carbs that you eat from being absorbed by your body as fat.

In addition, the high fibre content may help you feel fuller for longer and so reduce your hunger pangs and appetite. Carb Blocker Max also contains caffeine so may perk you up and the supplement contains some vitamins for general health support.

However, the principle ingredient of Carb Blocker Max is an ingredient called Phaseolamin, which is derived from white kidney bean extract and is a natural protein and alpha amylase inhibitor.

White Kidney BeansWhite kidney bean Extract works by blocking a percentage of your dietary carbs from being absorbed by your body as fat. It does this by preventing the enzyme alpha amylase from binding with starches. Alpha amylase is produced in your saliva and it breaks down carbohydrates into molecules that the body can easily absorb. When you prevent this process, the carbohydrates just pass unabsorbed through the body as waste.

Some of the clinical investigation into carb blockers was as a result of diabetes research that looked into helping sufferers control their insulin response.

According to the Slim Zest information the fibre content of white kidney bean extract, also promote weight loss by making you feel fuller for longer.

How to take Carb Blocker Max

To use Slim Zest Carb Blocker Max. Take 1 to 2 capsules 10 minutes before a main meal with a full glass of water. Do not exceed 6 capsules per day.

Slim Zest market four weight loss supplements in total. As well Carb Blocker Max, they also sell a couple of Garcinia Cambogia supplements and a fat burner – T5 Rapid Fat Burner. None are very well known yet.

The Slim Zest website is attractive and appealing. The weight loss information provides some general support and recipes and each purchase from the online shop comes with a free eBook download about diet and exercise.

We loved some of the online recipes on the Slim Zest website. There are only a handful but they are certainly worth a look. These include Mediterranean vegetables with lamb (portion serving just 200 calories) or Hot Garlic and Chilli Prawns Gumbo (170 calories per portion).

Slim Zest does not appear to be a big operation. The contact details provide an office hosting address in East London so it is extremely hard to find out any more background about this company.

    The listed address is:
    Slimzest
    Kemp House
    152 City Road, London
    EC1V 2NX

However, the sales terms seem reputable and it does not seem as if Slim Zest is offering any underhand payment options such as auto billing.

According to the Slim Zest information, all supplements are made in the UK and conform to manufacturing standards.

Slim Zest is looking for suppliers and retail outlets but is not running a direct marketing scheme.

    Carb Blocker Max Concerns:

    • Very limited clinical evidence to suggest white kidney bean extract is worth using for weight loss.
    • High number of fake looking reviews
    • Could be a waste of money as some customers have said and you don’t have the protection of a guarantee.

What Does Carb Blocker Max Claim To Do?

According to the product advertising, Carb Blocker Max has four main advantages.

    • Carb Blocker Max blocks the absorption of starchy complex carbohydrates reducing your calorie intake from carbohydrates.
    • 100 % Natural formula 180 vegetarian capsules in every bottle safe and effective.
    • Helps to manage food cravings.
    • Faster weight loss when combined diet and exercise.

    According to the Carb Blocker Max product information;

White Kidney Beans, (Phaseolus Vulgaris) are a type of legume that contain a protein substance called Phaseolamin which is a completely natural substance.

    They go on to explain:

White Kidney Beans are high in fibre and high fibre foods can help you to feel fuller for longer.

Extracts from the White Kidney Bean have long been thought to support healthy weight loss when combined with a healthy diet and exercise programme

So What Is Carb Blocker Max and What Are The Ingredients For Carb Blocker Max?

Carb Blocker Max is a diet pill that is billed as a carb blocker and may help reduce hunger pangs too.

Each capsule contains the following ingredients. Serving size is one capsule but you can double the dose and take two at a time.

    • Kidney Bean Extract 4:1 (62.50 mg): This is the principle ingredient and is well known as a carb blocker in the weight loss industry. It is safe and there has been some clinical testing but the amounts contained in each capsule do not reflect the ingredient amounts used in clinical testing.
For example, one clinical test carried out in Rome on 60 subjects over a 6-month period found that Phaseolus vulgaris helped reduce body weight and fat mass when taken on a long-term basis. However, the daily dose in this test used 445mg a day.
      Source: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/17299581
Other testing found that kidney bean extract may be effective if you are a heavy carbohydrate eater. A test carried out on 25 subjects found that subjects who ate the most carbohydrates experienced a significant reduction in both weight and waist size. However, the amount used was 1000mg a day and in addition, clinicians recommended that longer studies with a larger pool of subjects are required to validate these findings.
      Source: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/17658120
    • Vitamin C (150mg): Vital vitamin for health and an antioxidant with many health benefits. Can help prevent oxidative stress in cells and is one of the most important dietary vitamins – the body cannot manufacture vitamin C itself. Improve your vitamin C levels by ensuring you eat plenty of your five a day.
    • Guarana 4:1 Extract (10 mg): Native Brazilian bean, which contains caffeine. However, amount quantities here are unlikely to be very effective. There is about 100mg of caffeine contained in the average cup of coffee
    • Chromium Picolinate (0.03mg): This trace mineral can be dangerous in high quantities but is believed to play a role in the reduction of blood fats such as cholesterol and triglycerides. It may improve the way the body uses insulin.

So What Does All This Mean?

Carb Blocker Max contains some reasonable ingredients and it looks safe. However many of these are in insufficient quantities so this supplement may not cause much of an effect.

The limited clinical evidence available for White Kidney Bean Extract has all been achieved by using much larger daily doses and in addition, most of these trials have been carried out over months rather than weeks.

Another issue to consider is the ingredients ratios for both the Guarana and the Kidney Bean Extract – the principle ingredient. The ratio 4:1 for example means that for each unit of active ingredient you have four parts other ingredients. This means that the true amount of active ingredients is much less than it appears.

We like the fact that Carb Blocker Max looks safe but doubt that it will be very effective.

Does Carb Blocker Max Have Any Side Effects?

There is not much independent feedback available for this supplement and although there are negative comments, nobody has mentioned side effects.

However, you may notice unpleasant gastro intestinal side effects such as:

    • Bloating
    • Gas
    • Diarrhoea
    • Stomach cramps

    Caution:
Avoid if you are pregnant or breast-feeding. Do not take if you suffer from kidney problems or liver disorders – the chromium content could cause kidney and liver damage.

Ask your doctor for advice if you are taking prescription medication in case of interactions. White Kidney Bean and chromium may alter blood sugar levels so speak to your doctor first if you are diabetic in case this will affect your medication.

Any Carb Blocker Max Reviews From Customers?

There are some positive reviews on the product website but obviously, we cannot guarantee these are unbiased. There are also some customer reviews on Amazon.co.uk. Not all appear genuine.

At the time of writing, there are 16 positive five star reviews but most of these so-called satisfied customers have the same review history including other Slim Zest products and the same handful of random products including a brown rustic handbag!

Identical review histories are usually the sign of fake reviews so we must ignore these.

    Just one positive review looked slightly more genuine, although does not really offer much in the way of explanation. This customer wrote;

Compared to others I choose these, based on what you get for your money and the fact that they were British manufactured.

There are three reviews that appear to be genuine but they all say the same thing

Not sure if they actually work…….

    Did not work for me!

    And

Not for me , would like money back 🙁

So Does Carb Blocker Max Work?

We don’t think that Carb Blocker Max will work very well, if at all. There is some clinical evidence for White Kidney Bean Extract and weight loss, but the amounts contained in the supplement fall short of the tested amount quantities.

In addition, there is not much evidence for Carb Blockers actually helping weight loss – even in sufficient quantities.

    According to Christine Gerbstadt, MD, RD, an American Dietetic Association spokeswoman speaking in an interview on WebMD;

Starch blockers probably do allow complex carbohydrates to pass through the small intestine largely undigested

however it seems that this does not automatically equate to weight loss.

As obesity doctor Louis Aronne, MD says, patients usually don’t stick with starch blockers for long.

    He reported,

When patients come in taking a carb blocker, they end up stopping either because of the side effects or because of lack of effectiveness.

    Watchdog Verdict

Carb blocker Max looks safe and it doesn’t come with any dodgy auto billing issues, but this supplement is probably not going to work very well for your weight loss.

Even carb blockers that accurately reflect clinical testing do not appear to be that effective for weight loss. In addition, most clinical testing has been carried out over months rather than weeks so you could be in for a long haul.

According to experts, although carb blockers may help prevent some of your dietary carbs from adding to body weight, this method is just not effective. The side effects are not dangerous but can be unpleasant and embarrassing and any weight loss is usually very slow. We usually experience weight gain for a variety of reasons and carbs are only part of the story. This supplement will not help prevent dietary fats or sugars from adding to your weight.

Changing your diet and adding more fibre will help your weight loss and will come with some dietary benefit too.

We like the website, love the recipes and like the idea of the free download eBook but feel that this supplement is simply not good enough to add to our approved list.

We reject Slim Zest Carb Blocker Max.
