We all have our different problems when it comes to losing weight and a common issue is simply overdoing the carbs and portion sizes. If you struggle with restricting your pasta, bread and rice, a supplement that blocks some of these fattening carbs sounds a tempting prospect.
If you are looking for some support for your weight loss that does not cause a range of stimulant side effects, you might find that Carb Stopper Extreme looks like a good solution.
This US based diet pill is the type of supplement commonly known as a carb or starch blocker. This one contains just one ingredient – White Kidney bean extract, so should not cause you any of the jittery side effects commonly associated with some types of diet pills.
If you find it difficult to keep to sensible sized portions and find that your love of bread, potatoes, rice is derailing your diet then a carb blocker may suit you.
According to the Carb Stopper Extreme product information, this supplement will prevent the dietary carbs that you eat from adding to your body weight and in addition will suppress the appetite, prevent hunger pangs and stop you from overeating without requiring too much effort or will power from you.
White kidney bean extract works by blocking a high percentage of your dietary carbs from being absorbed by your body as fat. It does this by preventing the enzyme alpha amylase from binding with starches. Alpha amylase is produced in your saliva and it breaks down carbohydrates into molecules that the body can easily absorb. When you prevent this process, the carbohydrates just pass unabsorbed through the body as waste.
Some of the clinical investigation into carb blockers was as a result of diabetes research that looked into helping sufferers control their insulin response.
Carb Stopper Extreme does not provide much information about this process or the sort of effects you can expect from this diet pill.
To take Carb Blocker Extreme you are recommended to take 2 capsules 30 minutes before each meal with a full glass of water and not increase this suggested dose.
There is also zero information about the company behind Carb Stopper Extreme. It appears to be a US based business but the website does not include an “about me” page or similar. More worryingly, there is no phone number or address and the advertised live chat function does not work.
The only way you can contact this company is by sending them an email. We are concerned about this because Carb Stopper Extreme claim to offer a guarantee but do not provide a return address and do not include their terms and conditions on the website.
The background to Carb Stopper Extreme is totally anonymous and in the often scam ridden world of diet pills this lack of transparent information always rings alarm bells with the Watchdog team. In addition, we get the feeling that it will be highly unlikely that this company will honour a money-back guarantee.
There are four key features to this supplement. The advertising states that:
The diet pill is made;
utilizing only pharmaceutical grade ingredients, Carb Stopper Extreme suppresses appetite, reduces overeating, boosts metabolism, increases energy levels and burns fat, all while sculpting lean muscle
It continues with the claim that;
Carb Stopper Extreme has been shown to provide drastic weight loss in not just overweight individuals but also those who have been trying to rid themselves of those stubborn pounds that won’t seem to go away.
The company provides no evidence or links to prove that any of these claims are true.
Carb Stopper Extreme is a diet pill that is supposed to prevent the dietary carbs that you eat from adding to body weight.
Each serving is equal to 2 capsules. The company does not provide an ingredients list on the website but we managed to see the label via a picture on Amazon.
There is only one ingredient.
Other testing found it may be effective if you are a heavy carbohydrate eater. A test carried out on 25 subjects found that subjects who ate the most carbohydrates experienced a significant reduction in both weight and waist size. However, the clinicians recommended that longer studies with a larger pool of subjects are required to validate these findings.
This ingredient requires further testing to prove that it works. Although some of the clinical evidence suggests that it may be effective for weight loss, all the medical opinion is that these tests are small and results are unproven. Most of the clinical testing has taken place over months rather than weeks and unsurprisingly the best results were seen on subjects who already had the most to lose.
We can’t help thinking that if you cut out carbohydrate portion sizes, increased your dietary fibre and took some exercise, results would be more guaranteed and better for health.
With the rise in popularity of diets like Dukan and Atkins, carbs are sometimes seen as bad for health but they are very important. Our bodies need carbs for energy and finding a healthy balance that you can live with will be more effective than taking this pill.
In addition, if you take this pill you will be preventing your body from absorbing vital nutrients. If you block your digestion from absorbing starch, you fail to get the valuable nutrients, antioxidants, vitamins and mineral from the food you just consumed.
According to customer feedback, side effects are minimal and mainly around bloating.
One customer reported;
Not only did I gain weight but I am bloated beyond belief. My belly feels distended as if I swallowed a watermelon
Potential side effects include;
Caution: Avoid if you are pregnant or breast-feeding. See your doctor if you are taking prescription medication in case of drug interactions. The kidney bean extract may prevent vital medication from being absorbed by your body. If you are diabetic, you may need to have your medication adjusted because it may change blood sugar levels.
There are plenty of customer reviews for Carb Stopper Extreme from both UK and US customers. The high number of positive comments looks good at first glance but delve a little deeper and it all starts looking very suspicious.
For a start, many of them have been left by people who have never previously reviewed anything and who write in very glowing terms. Such as this one…
Last year I gained too much weight during the holidays, and after working all year to get it back off….. I started taking carb stopper, especially before big dinners. I expected to maintain my weight, or maybe gain just a few kgs, but since taking this I have actually lost over 4kgs etc….
Other so-called positive reviews have been left by people who have left other reviews but usually 3 products all on the same day. This is a common trick and we discounted those comments.
There are a few genuine looking comments but you have to search. After wading through pages of dubious looking reviews, we found this one that seems 100% genuine. This U.S. reviewer has a normal review history stretching back over years and she is pleased with Carb Stopper Extreme;
Been taking two tablets a half an hour before eating a meal with a large glass of water. I just do lunch and dinner. Breakfast is just too early for me to take the pills with a large glass of water. But I am still losing weight. My appetite has been less.. I know its taking me a little longer because I don’t take the ones I should in the morning. I have lost 5 lbs in two weeks. I’m thrilled. So long as it keeps going down. No side effects.. Love it
Genuine negative comments seem easier to find – it is important to check these out too because rival companies sometimes leave negative feedback for rival products.
This UK customer was disappointed;
I bought this hoping for some help to reduce appetite. I am sorry to say the only pounds I lost were sterling!!
Another customer mentioned the positive feedback as a reason for buying;
I tried these tablets after reading good reviews from previous shoppers. I took the 3 bottles over a period of a month and the only effects I felt were that I was bloated all the time. It did curb my appetite, but the downside was I put weight ON. Unbelievable
“Rubbish” was a common review title. Others include “no no no”, “Don’t bother” and “Didn’t do a thing”.
We don’t think it works very well. Most of the positive reviews look suspicious and there are a very high number of negative reviews, which do appear to look more genuine.
It might help you if you eat a lot of carbs and are reluctant to change your habits but this may cause you to over eat in the belief that carbs will not add to weight. This supplement does nothing to help you establish a healthy diet and lifestyle you can live with. It will unlikely do anything for your health or your long term weight loss.

Carb Blocker Extreme claim to offer a 90-day guarantee but provide no details about how you claim this and do not even provide a return address. We don’t think you will have much luck in getting this if you are unsatisfied. They have failed to include any of their terms and conditions on their website which is not a good sign.
We are not impressed with Carb Blocker Extreme.
We don’t think that taking a supplement to block out the carbs that you eat is a good habit to get into for weight loss and according to most customers; it does not often work anyway. Changing your diet and lifestyle is the best way to lose weight and if you struggle with hunger pangs and keeping to sensible amounts, including more fibre into your diet is a more effective way to go.
We don’t trust this company because they have not provided one single contact detail beyond an email address and we don’t expect they will honour the guarantee. In addition, there is something going on with all that positive feedback – it just does not look genuine to us.
Carb Blocker Extreme seems cheap but when you buy a month’s supply, it does not look as reasonable. We like the fact that it doesn’t appear to cause too many noticeable side effects but we just don’t think that taking this product is a good habit to get into if you want to remain healthy and lose weight.
Taking all this into consideration, we have no other option but to reject Carb Blocker Extreme.
