Core Nutritionals Burn Review

Core Nutritionals Burn Facts

  • Manufactured by Core Nutritionals.
  • 150 capsules per bottle.

Burn is a thermogenic weight loss aid manufactured by Core Nutritionals.

They also have a similarly named fat burning supplement called Burn Ultra; these are different supplements, and it is important not to confuse the two.

Core Nutritionals are based in the USA, but they do not provide their address on their official website or social media pages. The company has a ‘contact’ button, which opens up the mail live program on windows but does not provide any contact details. The company can also be contacted through their facebook page.

Their website states that ‘all Core Nutritional products are manufactured in the U.S. and in cGMP facilities.’ Core Nutritionals have been previously instructed by the FDA to stop selling one of their supplements containing AMP Citrate, as the product was incorrectly marketed as a dietary supplement despite it not being a natural ingredient.

How to Take Core Nutritionals Burn

To assess tolerance, start by taking 2 capsules with food in the morning. An additional 2 capsules can be taken with food 5-6 hours later. Once tolerance is assessed, serving can be increased to 3 capsules in the morning and 3 capsules 5-6 hours later. Do not exceed 6 capsules in a 24 hour period. Do not use longer than 8 continuous weeks without a four week break. Do not take with other products or foods containing caffeine or other stimulants.

Core Nutritionals Burn Concerns:

  • No money back guarantee.
  • Some ingredients are associated with unpleasant side effects.
  • Large number of capsules to take per day.

What Does Core Nutritionals Burn Claim To Do?

The manufacturers of Core Nutritionals Burn describe the product as an ‘Innovative multi-stage thermogenic’ weight loss supplement.

Core BURN is formulated to drop the kitchen sink and “miracle” ingredient tactics, and instead uses a diverse range of proven ingredients to create a powerful, balanced, and effective product. Core BURN is designed to target precise primary and secondary metabolic pathways, at multiple targets, to ensure maximum effectiveness. No more playing darts in the dark when it comes to weight management categories; randomly including ingredients, in whatever servings, hoping that something works. Specific.Multi-targeted. These words exemplify the new approach: amazing ingredients, in clinically-reflected serving sizes, all included in a non-proprietary blend so you know exactly what you’re consuming.

So What Is Core Nutritionals Burn and What Are The Ingredients?

The ingredients used in Core Nutritionals Burn are listed below. The ingredient quantities listed are per serving of three capsules. Consumers can take up to two servings per day for a total maximum of six capsules.

  • Acetyl-L-Carnitine 500 mg: There is some evidence that supplementation of acetyl-l-carnitine can reduce body fat, although the strongest results were seen in the elderly. The ingredient also boosts energy levels, and is used to treat fatigue.
    Source: http://examine.com/supplements/L-Carnitine/
  • Green Tea Extract (Camilliasinensis) (leaf) (50% EGCG) 400 mg: Green tea is high in a group of antioxidants called catechins. Studies have suggested that catechins increase thermogenesis in the body, whilst caffeine increases energy expenditure by boosting the metabolism slightly for a few hours.
    Source: http://ajcn.nutrition.org/content/70/6/1040.full
  • Green Coffee Extract (Coffee arabica) (bean) (50% chlorogenic acid) 400 mg: Contains caffeine. Whilst it was thought that this ingredient was a significant aid in weight loss, the relevant research has been discredited as it was fraudulent. Currently there is no evidence that it aids with weight loss more than any other source of caffeine. See our article for more details:

  • Olive Extract (Olea europaea) (leaf) (20% oleuropein) 250 mg: May lower blood pressure and cholesterol levels.
    Source: http://examine.com/supplements/Olive+leaf+extract/
  • Caffeine (1,3,7-trimethylxanthine) 250 mg: Numerous studies have shown that caffeine boosts energy levels and alertness, as well as mildly boosting the metabolism. The effects shown in studies are small, and some studies are inconclusive.
    Source: http://www.mayoclinic.org/healthy-living/caffeine
  • Bacopamonniera Extract (whole plant) (50% bacosides) 200 mg: Used to reduce anxiety, improve memory, and seems to have a minor ability to treat depression, making it a general mild mood booster. Doses are typically larger than used in this diet pill, and effects can take time to achieve a noticeable level, as the effects appear to accumulate with repeated use.
    Source: http://examine.com/supplements/Bacopa+monnieri/
  • ForsLean® (Coleus forskholii) (root) (20% forskolin) 100 mg: A plant belonging to the mint family that is thought to boost the metabolism. However, the clinical trials performed using this ingredient have shown no weight loss, even when the participants’ lean muscle mass increased and fat mass decreased.
    Source: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2129145/
  • Theobromine (3,7-dimethyl-1H-purine-2,6-dione) 100 mg: Theobromine is a mild stimulant. Thought to be a much milder stimulant than caffeine, and is unlikely to have any significant impact upon weight loss.
    Source: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Theobromine
  • Yohimbe Extract (Pausinystaliayohimbe) (bark) (8% yohimbine alkaloid) 75 mg: Some studies have noticed increased blood concentrations of free fatty acids in participants who use yohimbe extract, suggesting increased rates of lipolysis. However, the Natural Medicines Comprehensive Database has stated that there is insufficient evidence to claim it aids in weight loss.
    Source: http://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/druginfo/natural/759.html
  • Advantra-Z® Bitter Orange Extract (Citrus aurantium) (fruit) (50% synephrine): this ingredient contains synephrine. A review of numerous studies concluded that use of synephrine resulted in an increase to the participants resting metabolic rate and energy expenditure, and moderate weight loss was seen in studies lasting over 6 weeks. However, there are some concerns about its safety being under-researched and the numerous side effects that have been associated with it.
    Source: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/22991491

So What Does All This Mean?

Yohimbe and bitter orange extracts have been associated with a wide variety of side effects, as described in the side effects section below, which could prevent some groups of people from taking this diet pill.

Caffeine and synephrine are both proven weight loss aids, although, as mentioned above, some have better safety profiles than others. Caffeine’s effects upon the metabolism are thought of as small but significant. Theobromine is a stimulant that is similar to caffeine in structure, but it is even weaker, and unlikely to make a noticeable difference to the metabolism.

Green tea contains catechins which could increase thermogenesis in the body. Again, whilst this could contribute to an increased rate of weight loss, its overall effect is relatively small.

Green coffee bean currently has no strong clinical support from trials as the main trial that was most often referenced was retracted after it was discovered that it was fraudulent.

Bacopa Monnieri needs to be taken daily for an effect to build up over time, and may reduce anxiety and improve memory.

Coleus Forskohlii does not appear to affect overall weight loss, but it may affect body composition. Acetyl-L-Carnitine is often touted as a fat burner, but this effect has only been seen in the elderly in clinical trials. For the rest of the population, L-Carnitine may help boost energy levels, combat fatigue, and will work as a source of amino acids for consumers who are trying to build muscle mass through appropriate exercises.

Does Core Nutritionals Burn Have Any Side Effects?

There is a long list of ingredients that are used in Core Nutritionals Burn, and many of them are present in high doses. This means that there is a long list of potential side effects that could develop whilst taking this product. It is very important that consumers test their tolerance for the product when they first take it, and that they cycle use of the product as instructed.

Side effects associated with the use of Bitter Orange extract include increased heart rate and increased blood pressure, heart palpitations, fainting, and even heart attack and stroke in healthy patients. The Mayo Clinic has recommended avoiding use of Bitter Orange extract because in their opinion, the risk of using the product is not worth the pay-off of any potential weight loss. The effects of synephrine and other bitter orange extracts are enhanced when combined with caffeine.

Green tea and green coffee bean are both potentially sources of naturally occurring caffeine, depending upon whether or not caffeine free extracts are used in this supplement. There is also an amino acid in Green Coffee Bean called homocysteine that is associated with an increased risk of heart disease. Green tea can cause constipation.

Side effects of caffeine can include headaches, increased heart rate, increased blood pressure, heart palpitations, increased urination, dehydration, jitteriness, dizziness and insomnia. The maximum daily dose of this supplement (six capsules) contains a total of 500 mg of caffeine, which is incredibly high, making it much more likely that side effects will develop. Avoid all other sources of caffeine completely while taking this product!

Yohimbe can cause a wide range of side effects, including stomach upset, excitation, tremor, sleep problems, anxiety or agitation, high blood pressure, a racing heartbeat, dizziness, stomach problems, drooling, sinus pain, irritability, headache, frequent urination, bloating, rash, nausea, and vomiting. High doses can cause more severe effects.

Studies have shown that Bacopa leaf causes upset stomachs in participants much more than placebos. This has led to the recommendation that this ingredient be taken with a meal, rather than on an empty stomach, as this will minimise the chances of getting an upset stomach. It may also cause nausea, cramping, bloating, and diarrhoea.

Any Core Nutritionals Burn Reviews From Customers?

Although the product is no longer stocked by bodybuilding.com, the customer reviews that were left by consumers are still available to read on the website. There are also numerous customer reviews on the Tiger Fitness sales page for Core Nutritionals Burn.

This definitely seemed to have more of a punch to it than other thermogenics I’ve tried, but I didn’t see any weight loss. But then again, I only had sample packs that I took for four days, I believe. Maybe it’ll work better for you. All I got was slight jitters after about an hour and a half.

Unlike other fat burners, I didn’t find myself to flush with this product but I did have the occasional burps that tasted of raspberry. I feel as though the caffeine gave me an energy boost and kept me going throughout the day.

Excellent product! I’m two weeks into it and already seeing great results while stacked with yohimbine. I’m looking much tighter and fuller as I shred down. I can notice that I sweat more while taking the product, but I have no jitters whatsoever. I’d definitely recommend it.

Core burn is fantastic! Clean energy and great overall sense of well being while taking this product. Full ingredient disclose from a company you can trust, what more could you ask for? Core burn from core nutritionals is a must for those looking to break that plateau while dieting!

Excellent product!Burning fat without any crazy jitters. I’m currently on my second bottle and it is definitely effective!

With a nice clean roll in and results i can see over the first two weeks of use, I highly recommend this product. There’s no crazy jitters or shakes here, just a warming sensation with a slight increase in sweat generation. I’ve been able to peal off 2% body fat while increasing body water percentage and muscle density over the past two weeks of using this product in conjunction with a 3.5 day 1500 caloric restriction, re-feed meal and moderate carb backloading immediately post workout. Body weight has gone down from 278 to 267 so far and I am now within 17lbs of my 2014 goal! I’m planning to go through another cycle of this product after my 4 week off period.

This is my second time taking the core burn stack and I absolutely love it. It’s helping me get on the right track to prepare for summer and I have lost about 10 lbs since starting it a little over a month ago. The bottle has lasted almost 2 months and I still have a few days left. This product worked so great, I wish it didn’t have to end and I had more to continue helping towards reaching my ultimate goal!

So Does Core Nutritionals Burn Work?

The customer reviews that we were able to find for Core Nutritionals Burn were overwhelmingly positive, with only one reviewer mentioning any side effects. Some customers love the increased energy levels they feel, using the product as a pre-workout supplement, but do not report back on whether they experienced any fat loss or weight loss. However, others specifically state that they have lost significant amounts of weight and reduced their body fat percentage when using this product in conjunction with regular exercise and a healthy diet plan.

Some of the ingredients used in Core Nutritionals Burn could increase the body’s metabolic rate and contribute to weight loss, provided that the consumer does not experience any unpleasant side effects, which would stop them from using the product (for their own health).

Overall, we suspect that the presence of bitter orange, caffeine, theobromine and green tea will mean that consumers who are already dieting will notice an increased rate of weight loss whilst taking this product.

Where Can I Buy Core Nutritionals Burn?

Core Nutritionals Burn is not available for purchase from the official manufacturer’s website, but they do provide links to many of the online third-party retailers that stock their products.

Tiger Fitness sells a bottle for $44.99 plus delivery charges. However, the sales page states that it contains 120 capsules in one place, but states 150 capsules in another, and so it is unclear exactly how much of the product consumers are paying for.

The bottle states 150 capsules, but the image is small and easy to miss.

Watchdog Verdict

Core Nutritionals, the company who manufacture Burn amongst other supplements, is run by a married couple who are a ‘drug-free bodybuilder’ and a ‘drug-free natural figure competitor’, and yet the company was cautioned by the FDA in 2015 for selling a product containing a unnatural, lab-synthesised ingredient that is not classified as a dietary supplement.

The product is not available directly from the manufacturers, and so the product comes with no money back guarantee. However, it is available from some reputable online supplement retailers, including Tiger Fitness. It seems that the product has limited availability, with many of the listed retailers on the Core Nutritionals website no longer stocking the product.

The product can cause numerous side effects, thanks to the use of yohimbe and bitter orange, as well as numerous other ingredients. Side effects from yohimbe appear to be common in general, but bodybuilders swear by the ingredients, despite mixed clinical support.

Consumers need to take as many as six capsules per day, and so even though a bottle of 150 capsules sounds huge, it will last for a mere 25 days if using the maximum dose. The product also needs to be cycled regularly.

Overall, we are not convinced that this diet pill is ideal for everyone; the reviews on bodybuilding.com are often written by consumers who are bodybuilders and who use fat burners and pre-workout supplements regularly, and so may have developed a high tolerance for the stimulant ingredients. This product may aid weight loss, but the risk of side effects means that consumers are taking a risk when ordering the product.

Overall, we cannot recommend Core Nutritionals Burn to our readers.
