Fans of alternative medicine have been able to enjoy a whole world of interesting options in recent years! Along with traditional Western and Chinese approaches, alternative medicine practitioners have now been made aware of the interesting potential of India’s traditional Ayurvedic medicine.
Below we take an in-depth look at Doctor’s Option Wildcrafted Kachnar, to see whether this traditional herbal remedy works effectively as an appetite suppressant.
Doctor’s Option Wildcrafted Kachnar is a herbal weight loss remedy, that is inspired by traditional Ayurvedic medicine. Containing just one key ingredient (bauhinia tomentosa), this product supposedly works as an appetite suppressant.
Wildcrafted Kachnar is manufactured by a company called Doctor’s Option, under their “Dr Bernstein” range. Despite apparently hailing from the USA, Doctor’s Option gives us the strong impression that the company is actually run from elsewhere – the website appears to be written by someone from whom English is a second language, and the website is generally constructed in a haphazard and strange way. Wherever they come from, the evidence of this project suggests the company is not particularly well-versed in Ayurvedic medicine!
Very little is known about Kachnar (bauhinia tomentosa) in terms of its effects (whether positive or negative). No known side effects have been associated with bauhinia tomentosa in the scientific literature, but this of course does mean that side effects are possible. A little caution is still recommended.
Doctor’s Option Wildcrafted Kachnar is not particularly expensive when you consider that you receive a whole pound of powder! On both Amazon and the official Doctor’s Option website, this 1lb pack costs $26.97. There are some slight differences in shipping costs. On Amazon, your $26.97 purchase will come with $7.49 in shipping and handling costs. On the official website, shipping costs can vary – American customers will pay $8.95, Canadian customers will pay around $12, and international customers can expect to pay £30+.
It’s rare that we stumble across products that come with so little supporting information. Doctor’s Option have made the bold claim that this product suppresses appetite, despite the fact that we can find absolutely no information online that its key ingredient has this effect. We don’t just mean good scientific evidence either – we’ve searched dozens of blogs, internet comments, and web articles on bauhinia tomentosa, and not one made the suggestion that the herb helps to stave off hunger. In fact, one article actually recommended giving it to anorexics due to the fact that it apparently makes people feel hungrier!
As far as we’re concerned, the claim that this herb suppresses appetite literally originates from this company. In terms of weight loss, it therefore probably does literally nothing – this is probably the reason why Doctor’s Option is so unbelievably vague with the dosing instructions. After all, it doesn’t really matter how much you take anyway!
Despite its fair price and money back guarantee, Wildcrafted Kachnar is one to avoid. Some of the only comments we found online discussing it claim the taste is bad and that the powder is hard to mix, and all of our research suggests that the mixture has no effect on weight loss whatsoever.
We do not recommend Doctor’s Option Wildcrafted Kachnar to our readers.
Its ingredients are scientifically proven to aid weight loss and you are covered by a full 60-day money-back guarantee from a trusted company, making Phentatrim a very popular choice in the diet world.

Doctor’s Option Wildcrafted Kachnar is an appetite suppressant that uses a plant-based ingredient called Bauhinia Tomentosa. Although sold in the USA, this product traces its origins to Indian and its traditional ayurvedic medicine practices. As a boost to its traditional credentials, this product advertises itself as entirely “wildcrafted”, meaning that it is grown naturally without the use of pesticides, herbicides, or fungicides.
This appetite suppressant is manufactured by Doctor’s Option. The main distinguishing feature about this company is that it seems to be the marketing and webstore arm of Dr Richard K Bernstein, one of the earliest advocates for a low-carbohydrate, specialist diabetic diet for ordinary people. The company can be contacted via the details supplied on the official website.
The directions for use are as follows:
It is best to mix one (1) to six (6) teaspoons in 6-8 ounces of water and drink it approximately 1 hour prior to the time one typically has the urge to snack or before a meal to limit excess food consumption.
Wildcrafted Kachnar is described by the manufacturer as an appetite suppressant. Customers are invited to take 1-6 teaspoons of powder with water in order to curb hunger cravings and a desire to snack.
As we explain in the Ingredients tab, there is no reason to believe that this product will work to combat appetite. There is literally no evidence online to suggest that this plant works to suppress hunger, and we failed to even find a traditional ayurvedic medicine expert that even makes this claim (although we did find a couple of pages that claim that kachnar can be used as a way to treat reduced appetite!) Customers would be far better served seeking out more reputable appetite suppressant ingredients, such as glucomannan or konjac root.
The key ingredient found in Doctor’s Option Wildcrafted Kachnar are detailed below. The ingredient quantity is not technically listed, but this is simply due to the fact that there is no recommended dose – customers may take from 1-6 teaspoons per day depending on their preference. For all intents and purposes, the powder apparently represents 100% pure Bauhinia Tomentosa.
Not much is known about bauhinia tomentosa in general, including detailed information on side effects. For the record, we have found no evidence that this product causes any side effects beyond having an unpleasant taste.
Do not exceed recommended serving size. Use only as directed. Not intended for use by persons under 18, or by those with a serious medical condition. Do not use if pregnant or nursing. Please consult your physician before using this product.
We weren’t able to find many customer reviews covering Doctor’s Option Wildcrafted Kachnar online; the two you see below represent all of the comments we could find! Unfortunately, one of these complains at length about the product’s unfortunate taste and texture, which reportedly makes the overall mixture unpalatable.
I really wanted the help from this, but it was a no go for me. It tasted like I had mixed dirt with water. It does not dissolve. There are just these big particles that taste and feel like dirt in your mouth. I could not get more than one swallow down. It would have been so helpful if it had tasted good and had a decent texture. If anyone knows how to make this palatable, please let me know. I searched all over the internet, thinking there must be some trick, some recipe to make this drinkable. Couldn’t find a thing.
Doctor’s Option claim to offer a money back guarantee, although their returns policy is only very briefly described. On the official website, the manufacturer states that customers can return any Dr Bernstein product within 21 days for a full refund (minus shipping). Nothing else is really said other than that!
From this, we assume that customers have the right to return opened packages for a full refund within 3 weeks of receipt, although we would like to see this stated more explicitly by the company itself.
Doctor’s Option Wildcrafted Kachnar can be purchased on the official Doctor’s Option website and on Amazon. A 1lb bag of Wildcrafted Kachnar costs $26.97 on both websites, although shipping prices differ slightly. On the Doctor’s Option website, ordering a single pack of Wildcrafted Kachnar costs $8.95 in shipping and handling for American customers ($30 for overseas customers), and shipping costs a flat rate of $7.49 on Amazon.
