Despite medical advice warning against detoxing, the idea of detoxing for weight loss and health remains popular. The FatBlaster Coconut Detox is a diet drink that is supposed to help you through a detox and transform your body within two days.
FatBlaster Coconut Detox is a diet drink that you use to follow a set detox and weight loss programme provided by the company. The supplement itself will not help you lose weight but simply provides a support for the detox programme.
The detox programme is not complicated. You just take three servings of the drink each day, exercise for 30 minutes a day (Yoga and Pilates is recommended) fast or eat steamed vegetables – you can also follow the product’s recipe suggestions, and drink 8 glasses of water each day.
You are also given a full list of food and drink to avoid (just about everything).
According to the product information, the Fat Blaster Coconut Detox drink contains coconut water as the principle ingredient. This natural liquid is rich in electrolytes and fatty acids and is ideal for hydrating the body.
Detoxing remains popular despite there being no medical reason why it should be of benefit. Many people believe a detox “flushes” toxins from the body, reduces stomach bloating and improves skin but there is no evidence.
Your body flushes toxins via your liver and kidneys and there is no need to give these vital organs a rest or to get involved with cleansing your colon – the common claim about many detox plans.
However taking a break from alcohol, cigarettes and unhealthy food and cutting back a couple of days a week from these sorts of products is a good idea for health. If you lead a generally unhealthy lifestyle, which you are reluctant to change then an occasional break may do you some good.
The FatBlaster Coconut Detox drink contains a range of natural fruit based ingredients that certainly will not do you any harm to take.
The problem is that the product advice is to cut out food for two days and use this supplement as a meal replacement.
To use FatBlaster Coconut Detox, mix 125ml of Coconut Detox concentrate with 125ml of water and drink slowly over 2-3 hours.
Day One: Start in the morning substituting breakfast, and also substitute lunch and dinner with Coconut Detox, mixed as directed.
Supplement with at least 8 glasses of water throughout the day (1 – 2 litres).
Repeat on Day Two.
This information could have been simplified by just saying, do not eat any food for two days! There are some recipe suggestions on the website but this does not tie in with the instructions for use.
Fat Blaster Coconut Detox is an Australian made supplement manufactured by Pharma Care, a leading supplements company. The company is based in New South Wales.
The FatBlaster range comes under the Naturopathica brand – one of Pharma Care’s portfolio of companies.
Other FatBlaster products include Fat Blaster VLCD Weight Loss Shake and Diuret – a supplement designed to flatten your stomach.
We have covered Pharma care supplements before including Reducta – an appetite suppressing supplement and Metabolite (Nature’s Way). Neither product made its way onto the Approved list.
According to the Coconut Detox website;
Science has unlocked its power, and weight-conscious celebrities around the world have discovered the amazing 4000 year old secret of coconut for good health and feeling great
Sounds great but hang on. What exactly are these unlocked powers and who are these celebrities. None of this comes with one shred of scientific backing or evidence.
The product advertising claims to be;
the exciting new program to help you flush away toxins while reducing belly bloat and puffiness to help you feel lighter, rejuvenated and get the body you want – all in just 2 days!
We cannot believe that starving yourself for a couple of days and drinking a coconut based drink will really give you the body you want!
The key benefits are:
None of the claims are fully explained but the website is attractive and healthy looking and includes some fabulous photos of coconuts and a beautiful beach. Who needs facts when we already know how tropical and great coconuts are!
The Fat Blaster Coconut Detox advertising recommends this supplement for use with the 5:2 Fasting programme but this does not really add up either.
The simple reason is that we do not know the calorie count of this diet supplement so it could easily push your daily allowance of 500 calories over the edge.
Fat Blaster Coconut Detox is a concentrated drink supplement that you add to water and use in place of your meals over two days. The bottle contains 750ml and is sufficient for six servings.
Coconut water is very popular with athletes because it is healthier than power drinks such as Gatorade and contains fewer calories.
There is no evidence that coconut water has any particular application for weight loss or health beyond being generally healthy and good for you.

In addition to the active ingredients, FatBlaster Coconut Detox contains additives and flavourings.
Vegetable Gum, Food Acid, Emulsifier, Stabiliser. Flavours, Preservative [202, 223 (Contains Sulphites)].
Away from the advertising hype, FatBlaster Coconut Detox is unlikely to do much, if anything at all for your weight loss. This drink has no special powers to sustain you over a two-day fast or very low calorie diet. Coconut can be filling but drinking a coconut based drink is no substitute for a small healthy meal and you are still going to feel hungry.
Yes, there are real health benefits to including more coconut, apple and pineapple into your diet – fruit is a valuable source of vitamins and fibre after all, but if you did want to have these foodstuffs as a drink why not make a smoothie out of fresh ingredients you can buy in the supermarket? That way you could avoid the added flavourings and food additives.
This supplement is designed to be used with a detox or fast and we never recommend crash diets like these because they only ever lead to yo yo dieting and the evidence is that they do not work.
There is no evidence that coconuts have a “fat burning” effect. Taken on its own without going on an extreme fast for two days you will not lose weight.
While you do have to put some effort into losing weight and make dietary changes, starving yourself for two days may result in you losing weight but this is nothing to do with the power of this supplement.
No, this supplement appears to be extremely safe and unless you have an allergy to the specific ingredients, it will only do you some good. However, a detox or VLCD does come with side effects.
Common side effects include:
Caution: Never take supplements if you are breast-feeding or pregnant unless your doctor advises it. Although this supplement is safe, you should not use it combined with the detox if you suffer from a chronic medical condition or are elderly.
There are customer reviews available and most opinion is negative.
One customer reported;
Don’t be sucked in by it. Read the back of the label if you really want to try it. You’ll spend around $2 to make up the amount that you get in that bottle.
As this customer pointed out;
Lose weight? Of course you will. You’re severely limiting your caloric intake.
The side effects of fasting are the major problem for most customers. One woman gave a detailed account;
From about 10.30am on day 1, I developed a headache which varied in intensity the entire time on the coconut detox. In fact, it is now the morning after and my headache still remains.
She went on to say;
I followed all directions to the t – 30 mins walk a day and only ate half a carrot, a celery stick and a chunk of capsicum each day. Energy levels on day 1 were fairly low and I was in bed 2 hours earlier then normal. Day two was even worse!! I could have quite easily stayed in bed the entire day
She eventually lost 800g.
Not many people seemed to have enjoyed the drink either. As a customer stated:
The drink itself tastes very sweet and delicious, however, after sipping a VERY sweet drink over 2 hours or more, it becomes quite sickly and you find yourself forcing it down
Not all responses have been negative.
I started this to kick start my diet, I did well with not eating, only having a small can of tuna on both days. I didn’t really experience any side effects except for being very tired much earlier than usual. The taste was great! It reminded me of pina colada.
This customer reported weight loss.
Buy the product and follow the instructions and you will undoubtedly lose some weight. If you carried out the same regime without taking this supplement, you would probably lose the same amount too.
Some customers have felt that it has helped support them throughout their two days, but nobody has said it was easy and most appear to have experienced difficult side effects. The supplement does not seem to make fasting any easier despite the claims and the promises of support.

The FatBlaster Coconut Detox supplement will not help you lose weight unless you replace the food that you eat with this diet drink. You could actually lose weight with just about anything if you followed the FatBlaster Detox for two days. It reminds us of some of the diet drop pills on the market that promise dramatic weight loss and fail to mention that you have to keep to 500 calories while taking it.
We like the style of the website and the drink looks healthy enough – although does contain food additives, but at $39.99 it just is not worth the cost.
Detoxing to transform your body within two days is not going to happen. Evidence proves that extreme diets only ever lead to yo yo dieting and weight gain.
We love coconuts, pineapples and apples. Adding more of these foodstuffs to your diet will give you real health benefits. Our advice is to save your money and go buy some fresh fruit.
Thousands of customers have cut the fat with this fast and powerful thermogenic fat burner. Can suppress appetite, boost energy levels and elevate mood without the jitters.
