But what does hCG do anyway? In simple terms hCG – or human chorionic gonadotropin, to give it its proper name – prompts the body to make up any reduction in calorie intake by consuming its own fat supply. Sounds great in theory, doesn’t it? We looked a little deeper into BioGenetic hCG Activator to see how great it is in practice.
BioGenetic hCG Activator isn’t just a supplement: it’s to be taken in conjunction with the diet plan that you get free with it. The diet plan was devised by a Dr Albert Simeons, which involves living on less than 500 calories a day. His original idea back in the 1950s was to inject dieters with hCG to prompt their bodies to make up those missing calories by using stored body fat.
hCG is a naturally-occurring hormone, and hCG Activator claims to replace those injections by kickstarting the body’s production of that hormone instead.
Even though the FDA and the FTC weren’t that impressed by a diet plan that involved regular injections of hCG, people still inject themselves with it to these days to help not only with weight loss, but also with male and female reproductive problems.
In this case side effects can include pain and swelling, shortness of breath, nausea and vomiting.
Side effects of BioGenetic hCG Activator don’t seem to be reported anywhere, but the major cause for concern is, of course, the extremely low-calorie diet plan which can cause major health problems if continued for too long.
BioGenetic labs’ website states the MSRP for a pack of 120 capsules is $89.99, with a special price if you order from there of $48.29, once you’ve created an account.
The sales site goes into a certain amount of detail, but the product comes with a “scientifically designed diet plan”, which is nice, but we’re not told anything about it. One bullet point on the BioGenetic website reads “Follow America’s #1 Diet Plan”, but Googling “America’s #1 Diet Plan” throws up the grand total of three links – all of which take us back to web pages about BioGenetic hCG Activator. So what America’s #1 diet plan really is – or was – we’ve just got no idea.
It’s very possible that any weight lost during the course of taking BioGenetic hCG Activator is more due to the seriously-reduced calorie diet than to the action of the product itself.
And because of that lack of necessary calories, the harm that that lack can cause and the fact that real hCG is also prescribed in injection form for weight-loss as well as for ovulation issues and undescended testes, which could just cause a few unnecessary problems. We’re going to say thanks, but no thanks, and reject BioGenetic’s hCG Activator.

The BioGenetic website mentions Dr.Simeons’ diet a couple of times, but gives readers no idea what it is and whether they should have heard of the good doctor in the first place.
We think his diet is the one referred to on the BioGenetic website as “America’s #1 Diet Plan”, but a little research reveals only three websites on the whole of the internet containing that exact phrase.
Well, there’s that “free diet plan” to take into consideration, for a start. You’re not going to get anywhere with your weight-loss program just by using BioGenetic hCG Activator by itself: logic says that if you eat normally and this product encourages your body to use stored fat as well, then you’ll be putting on weight, not taking it off.
So, first, follow that low-calorie diet plan. Then take 2 capsules, twice a day with a full glass of water before meals, and on an empty stomach.
We could be wrong about Simeons’ diet plan being the number one plan in the whole America, but we don’t think we are.
A little more research reveals that Simeons’ basic weightloss idea was to inject dieters trying to live on 500 calories a day with hCG, which would stimulate their body to use up stored fat to make up for those missing daily calories.
We think the whole idea of injecting yourself because you’re trying to lose weight is just so wrong on so many levels, which may be why BioGenetic came up with their “natural alternative to HCG administration” in the first place.
hCG Activator claims to:
Possibly – if you happen to use that “scientifically designed diet plan… included free with every purchase”. You’re definitely going to lose weight if you only get 500 calories a day, but losing it that way over time isn’t going to do you any favors health-wise.
How much hCG this product is going to activate, and how much surplus fat we’re going to lose is another question altogether.
Other ingredients: gelatin, microcrystalline cellulose, magnesium stearate, silicon dioxide.
Apart from the metabolism problems that come over time with a seriously low-calorie diet, one big problem is that real, proper hCG is prescribed for both male and female reproductive problems, and this could make any existing difficulties in that department much worse for anyone following this diet plan.
Other than that, some of the listed ingredients can have adverse effects. For example, Huperzine is known to cause side effects such as nausea, diarrhea, vomiting, and incontinence.
N-acetyl-L-carnitine causes upset stomach and a “fishy” odor in urine, breath, and sweat.
And black cohosh can cause rashes, cramping, and vaginal bleeding.
Caution:
We couldn’t find any official caution notice, but common sense makes us wonder who’s going to want to exist on one-third (or less) of their recommended daily calorie intake for an extended period of time, with the possibility of making any existing reproductive problems worse.
However, other sources of information tell us that bona-fide hCG could interact with medications which affect the bloodstream.
We’d suggest speaking with your health professional before ordering any BioGenetic hCG Activator anyway – especially if you’re pregnant or breastfeeding.
We found five reviews on the BioGenetic website, all of them five-star – no surprise there.
Looking a little further afield, we found this from a nutritionist,
Nobody should be on a diet that forces you to consume less than 1200 calories per day for females or 1500 calories per day for males. It outweighs the benefits of modest weight-loss.
And from the dieters themselves,
The insert also describes the different phases of the diet for a total of 44 days…the product is only sold in a 30 day supply.
This is my first review of a product, so I figured I’d start out with what I found was THE WORST product I have ever tried. It gives you a diet plan, that basically tells you to starve yourself.
And finally, here’s one we weren’t expecting,
To top it all off you are not supposed to use oil lotions or oil based make up (I wish I was kidding) or it won’t work. What does that have to do with ANYTHING?!?!
Indeed it does. This from the BioGenetic website:
We are so sure the diet pill of your choice will work for you, and that you’ll be completely satisfied, we’ll refund every penny of your purchase price (when ordered direct—retailers have their own return policies). No hassles, we promise. This way, there’s virtually no risk to you, whatsoever, for at least trying it!
There’s a handy store locator on the BioGenetic website, which just needs you to input your zipcode for a retailer near you.
Or you can order BioGenetic hCG Activator direct from the website itself, call in your order or email customer services.
We couldn’t find any BioGenetic hCG Activator on Amazon, but if you look hard enough on eBay you’ll find some … but as always, we feel we have to caution you about how genuine-looking products sold through online marketplaces might not be as genuine as they appear to be.
We note BioGenetic have a tiered affiliate program in place, with the lowest level offering 8% commission for sales up to $999 and the highest level offering 12% for sales over $7000.
