What You Need To Know About Iaso Tea

Iaso tea is a herbal blend of unproven ingredients that you have to mix up by the gallon and in our opinion, you might as well not bother. There is no evidence that it will help you lose weight (beyond a mild laxative effect) and as for detoxing your liver from parasites, the whole idea is nonsensical. The liver does not have parasites and if your liver really did have this condition, you would need more than a quack tea you bought over the internet to cure you. You might as well try and find a snake oil salesman and try using that!

What Are The Side Effects Of Iaso Tea?

Potential side effects may include diarrhoea, stomach pains, nausea, headache, allergic reaction, and vomiting.

How Much Does Iaso Tea Cost?

1 x 4 pack of Iaso Tea ( enough for 4 gallons) costs $44.95.

The Slim Weight Loss Kit (10 packs of tea , 2 bottles of Resolution homeopathic diet drops and 2 bottles of NRG ( a vitamin supplement) costs a whopping $329.95.

Our Verdict On Iaso Tea

We are very unimpressed with Iaso Tea. Can we really believe the back-story about a rural doctor in Tennessee inventing this and then keeping in secret for 20 years? It seems extremely unlikely and even had this happened, this tea still would not be any good! We are glad we have never been one of his patients!

As for the Slim Weight Loss Kit – it is really over priced rubbish. The homeopathic diet drops contain no ingredients and the so-called NRG energy supplement is just a vitamin and fibre supplement and nothing more.

It makes us very angry when Direct Marketing companies set out to con people in this way. Rest assured that even the people who work for them, will not be getting rich in the way as described either.

This is a very easy decision. There is no way we would ever approved such awful looking supplements so we are actually pleased to reject Iaso Tea (and the Slim Weight Loss Kit).

Among the best products we’ve seen in 2016 is one called Phentaslim. Whilst not just containing clinically proven ingredients that have been shown to shift the fat, Phentaslim is very unlikely to give you unwanted side effects.

The makers of Phentaslim are so confident in their product they offer a no-risk 60-day money back guarantee too. To find out why this is our visitors #1 choice in our review here.

Iaso Tea Review

Iaso tea is a herbal tea that according to legend was invented by Dr Ben Miller of Jackson Tennessee twenty years ago and kept within his own community for years. That is until the arrival of the internet when presumably word got out and everyone wanted the tea!

Iaso Tea Facts

  • On sale from TLC Total Life Changes – a network marketing company
  • Complicated to buy from a distributor
  • Mild laxative effect

This is all sounding a little flaky to us but Iaso tea does have many fans. It is supposed to have an anti aging and health boosting effect. It is supposed to detoxify the liver, help weight loss and improve the speed of the metabolism.
Iaso tea contains some unusual ingredients. These are: persimmon leaves, holy thistle, malva leaves, marsh mallow, blessed thistle, papaya, myrrh, ginger and chamomile. We will look into the ingredients later in the review but even at first glance, we can see that effects may be unpredictable.

How to Take Iaso Tea

Boil 1 quart (1 litre) of water then add two teabags and cover.
Remove from heat and let it steep for 4- 8 hours.
Combine steeped tea with 3 quarts (3 litres) of cold water to make 1 gallon of tea. Do not remove tea bags . Refrigerate

Recommended usage: Drink 1 x 8oz glass with lunch
Drink 1 x 8 oz glass with dinner.
Optional: Drink 1 x 4oz glass with a snack.

After drinking the gallon of tea, save the teabags, dry the tea herbs and add to any foods: sauces, soups, stews, salads, potatoes etc.

The Total Life Changes (TLC) Slim Weight Loss Kit is probably the kit that is of the most interest to Watchdog readers. As well as the Iaso tea, this comprises of homeopathic diet drops called Resolution and a liquid energy supplement called NRG.
There is nothing actually contained in the Resolution diet drops. They are homeopathic so although there is an ingredients list printed on the box, the ingredients have been so highly diluted, they do not actually exist.
The liquid energy supplement is a general vitamin and mineral supplement that contains added fibre.

Total Life Changes is a MLM or Network Marketing company. With a glossy website and the promise of riches or at least a lucrative second income, you are encouraged to join and share in these opportunities.
Network marketing works for some people but it is not the path to sure-fire success it can appear to be.

Iaso Tea is sold by Total Life Changes (TLC) a direct marketing company that operates throughout the USA and some countries of South America.

Iaso Tea Concerns:

  • Although not many people have mentioned side effects, how do we know this tea is safe?
  • How can TLC justify asking for over $300 for an unproven herbal tea, a vitamin supplement and homeopathic remedy which contains zero ingredients?
  • We are concerned that people may get sucked into to selling these ineffective supplements

TLC specialise in providing kits of various products to do different things so you can purchase the Health Kit and the Energy Kit for example as well as the Total Life Changes (TLC) Slim Weight Loss Kit –
Iaso tea shows up in most of these kits because it has so many supposed benefits.

What Does Iaso Tea Claim To Do?

There is no explanation about how Iaso Tea works . The only information on the Total Life Changes website says,

This unique all-natural blend of 9 essential herbs is designed to cleanse the upper and lower intestines, ridding the body of toxins and some really nasty parasites. Just 8 ounces of this mild tea twice daily can provide you with dramatic results. Find out why some have even called this amazing drink “a miracle” tea.

There are no further details about these “nasty parasites” or any links to clinical evidence.

In addition Iaso tea is supposed to have an anti aging and health boosting effect.
It may provide effective relief from “Long or short term Constipation, Indigestion, Acid Reflux, Bloating and it may help with weight loss by improving the metabolism.”

There is no evidence that this tea supplement will work in any of the ways as described.

The various different people selling Total Life Changes products, all make slightly different claims but none of them are backed up with any scientific evidence.

Does Iaso Tea Work?

We think Iaso Tea is unlikely to work for anyone at all! However as some customers have reported, you may temporarily lose some water weight so show up lighter on the scales for a while.

There is just no evidence that any of the ingredients will help weight loss. This herbal concoction is unproven and untested on humans – apart from your fellow customers of course. It may cause side effects too although in fairness not many customers have mentioned any of these so we can only assume it is safe for most people.

That said some people enjoy the tea and if you use it to start a weight loss regime such as a calorie-controlled diet and exercise plan you may find that it helps keep you focused on your own efforts.

What Are The Ingredients of Iaso Tea?

Iaso tea is a blend of herbal ingredients that you add to a gallon of water and drink from the fridge. There is no information about quantities of any of the ingredients.
Serving size is equal to two teabags.

  • Persimmon Leaves: Persimmon is an edible oriental fruit with many different varieties and in China, the leaves are sometimes used in herbal teas. Persimmon leaves are rich in nutrients and vitamins and may have benefits for health. However, this ingredient has not been thoroughly tested for effectiveness or safety. May have a laxative effect.

  • Holy Thistle: Blessed Thistle: These two thistles are shown on the ingredients list as two separate ingredients but in fact these are just two names for the same plant also known as Cniccus.
Holy/ Blessed Thistle grows in the Mediterranean area and is also known as a weed in North America. It has sometimes been used as a folk remedy for wound healing but there is no real evidence.

  • Malva Leaves: Genus of a plant type called Mallow comprising of around 30 plants in Malvaceae family so without knowing the variety it is impossible to gauge the effects. However, some types of Malva leaves are used in herbal teas and may have medicinal effects.

  • Marsh Mallow: In Latin, this plant is called Althaea officinalis and this edible herb is the origin for the marshmallow sweet after the root was made into confectionary by Egyptians. As a herbal remedy it is typically used for sore throats and mouth infections.

  • Papaya: Delicious fruit and a source of vitamins and minerals. Contains an enzyme called Papain, which may be effective as a treatment for digestive issues.

  • Myrrh: Sap like resin harvested from tree bark and known about since Biblical times. Myrrh can kill bacteria and can help decrease swelling but there is very little evidence that it can cure other medical conditions. Usually used externally and can cause side effects including miscarriage if taken internally as here.
  • Ginger: Some studies suggest that ginger root is an appetite suppressant. One study used dried ginger powder to make a tea that participants drank with breakfast and noted that appetite was decreased.

  • Chamomile: Daisy type flower that has been used in herbal medicine for thousands of years. Chamomile is a traditional remedy for anxiety and sleeplessness but may have other benefits. Popular herbal tea ingredient usually taken to induce sleep.

Does Iaso Tea Have Any Side Effects?

Just because ingredients are natural, does not mean they are safe.
We are not told ingredient quantities and there has been no clinical testing on the specific ingredients contained in this tea or in the combination of ingredients. It probably has never been tested.

Potential side effects may include

  • Diahhroea
  • Stomach pains
  • Nausea
  • Headache
  • Allergic reaction
  • Vomiting

Myrrh can stimulate the uterus and cause miscarriage so it is important to avoid this ingredient if there is any chance you may be pregnant.

Some of the ingredients may have a laxative effect so you need to ensure you drink plenty of water to avoid becoming dehydrated.
Symptoms of dehydration include:

  • Thirst
  • Dizziness
  • Fatigue
  • Confusion
  • Constipation

Some of the ingredients are known to lower blood pressure and blood glucose levels.

Caution:
Warning:
Not suitable for individuals under 18. Avoid if pregnant, breast feeding or trying to conceive. Do not take if you are on prescription medication as this tea may cause interactions. Do not use if you suffer from an underlying medical condition.

Are There Any Customer Reviews For Iaso Tea?

There is a lot of feedback for Iaso tea but not all the positive comments are impartial. Many people have joined in conversations about Iaso tea because they are attempting to sell it themselves.
As this woman says,

This tea is great for detox and getting your body going when it comes to weight loss. …… This tea is gonna give ur body the flush it needs to get rid of unwanted toxins and build up. It will make you feel better the first week. I do recommend that you use the product for the entire month to get the full effects of the tea and make sure you drink plenty of water because Your body needs it. email me and I can help you with this tea because I have had great success.

This customer was told by his distributor to expect 5lbs weight loss and was disappointed.

This tea is OK. I got it to see what all the hype was about but in my opinion, it is like drinking any other tea. I did not lose 5lbs in 5 days as many distributors claim– it was more like 2 lbs in 5 days. If anything you are losing water weight but nothing more, nothing less.

Many people are unimpressed. This lady reported,

A total of 3 people (myself included) drank the tea for 6 weeks, exactly as instructed. Needless to say, there were ZERO changes, positive or negative.

A more detailed review is as follows:

This product produced none of the so-called benefits, i.e. release of toxins, appetite suppressant, foul urine etc. and most importantly, weight loss. I used it for 2 months thinking perhaps it would kick in. But it didn’t…never will and not sure if it really could. Congrats to those who say it worked for them…but it did not for me. Therefore, I would not recommend this product for anyone truly desiring a total life change.

Does Iaso Tea Offer a Money-Back Guarantee?

Iaso Tea is not backed by a money-back guarantee.

Where Can I Buy Iaso Tea?

Iaso tea is sold via direct marketing so as in common with all these schemes it is not as straightforward as just clicking on a buy button and paying your money. It is not as easy as walking into a shop and simply buying it.
When you buy via direct marketing, you have to go through a rigmarole before you are allowed to see the price and actually get the product you want.

Go to the official TLC website as a new customer and you have to provide a referral reference number for your “sponsor” Alternatively you have to ask for help to find a representative.

Tick this box and you then have to enter your zip code. Not all zip codes actually come up with results but if they do , you are then shown a long list of names. You choose one of these and then you are taken to a product page showing prices.

A simpler alternative is to buy via Amazon USA.
1 x month’s supply of Iaso Tea costs $37.95

You can also buy The Slim Weight Loss Kit for around $147.95 including free shipping from Amazon.
