Keto Vitals

Keto Vitals is an electrolyte supplement to give more energy to those on a low-carb or ketogenic diet. The ketogenic diet is a low-carb, high-fat diet that attempts to put the body into a metabolic state known as ketosis. When in ketosis, the body runs out of glucose to use as fuel for energy, causing the liver to produce ketones as an alternative fuel source. The advantage of this process is that the liver is forced to break down body fat directly to produce ketones, which naturally leads to weight loss, improved athletic performance, as well as improved mental performance.

Below we take an in-depth look into Keto Vitals, to see whether this electrolyte supplement has the right ingredients to complement this unique diet and lifestyle choice.

What You Need To Know About Keto Vitals

Keto Vitals is intended to help replenish electrolyte levels and is specifically designed for those on a keto diet. Electrolytes include sodium, potassium, and magnesium, which are all washed out of the body through sweat and urine, and are usually replenished through natural dietary intake. Keto Vitals aims to replenish these electrolytes when losses are particularly high, as in for those on a keto diet.

This is the only product that the company make, although the packaging has been changed more than once, from ‘Ketogenic Support’ or ‘High-dose electrolytes’ to ‘Electrolyte Capsules’, as they are now.

What Are The Side Effects Of Keto Vitals?

If taken properly, there should be no side effects from Keto Vitals.

How Much Does Keto Vitals Cost?

Keto Vitals costs $28.49 from Amazon, and $30.00 from the Keto Vitals Shopify store.

Our Verdict On Keto Vitals

Keto Vitals contains the correct ingredients to help replenish electrolytes for people on a ketogenic diet, and there are lots of positive reviews on Amazon which do appear to be genuine. However, almost all of the ingredients in this supplement are at too low levels to have much of an effect and meet the claims from the brand.

Around 3,000-5,000 mg of sodium per day is recommended for those on this diet, and even with the maximum dosage of Keto Vitals taken, a consumer would only get 1,400mg a day. The potassium levels are also too low, at 99mg per capsule, so even with the max dose you would still be taking way less than the advised 3,000mg per day. It wouldn’t even be enough for someone on a regular diet. If you get plenty of potassium in the food you eat then the supplement could help to increase that slightly more, but it is unlikely you would get enough. They do point out on the Amazon product page that the FDA mandates that they are only allowed to put 99mg of Potassium in one capsule and that they are trying to find a way of working around this, but right now it just doesn’t provide enough.

We need magnesium to keep the primary energy system of our cells working properly and to control hundreds of cell processes. The levels of magnesium in this supplement are good, particularly if taking 4 capsules a day – the recommended daily dose is 500mg. However, magnesium can make you sleepy, and therefore you wouldn’t want to be taking it throughout the day which is suggested if you are taking the maximum dose.

A good addition to this supplement would be Vitamin D, as that is required to absorb calcium. Without out, the calcium in this product may not do anything.

Keto Vitals also contains rice flour, a carb. The company have answered questions on Amazon about this saying that even if the capsules were 100% full of rice flour, two capsules would only be about 1.5g of carbs. They point out the capsules are not full of rice flour and contain so little that they’re considered carb free by the FDA. However, lots of people aren’t happy about having any amount of carbs on a keto diet, which is understandable.

Overall, we do not recommend Keto Vitals to our readers.

Keto Vitals Review

Keto Vitals is intended to help replenish electrolyte levels, including sodium, calcium, potassium and magnesium. These are all washed out of the body through sweat and urine, and are usually replenished through dietary intake. Particularly within the first few weeks of a ketogenic diet a lot of water weight is lost. This is because the low-carb/high-fat aspect of keto causes you to release water and these electrolytes. It’s not only important to replenish these to keep healthy, but also to help prevent any side effects associated with the so-called ‘keto flu’.

Keto Flu appears to be common when following the Keto Diet because many of the most common foods that are good sources of potassium are not allowed.

Keto Vitals Facts

  • 120 capsules per bottle
  • Keto Vitals only sell this product
  • Made in the USA

Keto Vitals is a small business that apparently started after the founder needed an easier way to get electrolytes on a ketogenic diet. There is very little information about the one-product company, but they appear to provide good customer service based on the Amazon reviews and in the Q&A section.

Whilst this supplement contains the right electrolytes that are lost on the keto diet, it is unlikely to do much because of the low levels of most of the ingredients in it. The product also claims to boost energy and improve mental clarity and mood, but there is no reason that it would do these things. It may help someone on the diet feel slightly better than they did before taking it, however, there is nothing in the supplement to provide a boost of energy or give a mental boost.

It could potentially help with improving sleep, as is claimed, but that would depend on when the supplement is taken, as magnesium is best taken before bed.

How to Take Keto Vitals

For best results, take one serving of Keto Vitals a day, with food. May take up to 4 servings daily, as needed. If supplementing with Vitamin D, take Keto Vitals at the same time for added absorption.

The rice flour contained in Keto Vitals is a problem for some people, especially as it wasn’t shown as part of the product information or photos on Amazon until recently. Rice flour was added to the supplement after there were lots of complaints about finding empty capsules in some bottles. It aids the flow of powder into the capsule to ensure they are properly filled. The brand claims that the amount is so insignificant that they cannot assign a weight to it and it shouldn’t be taken into account for your daily carb intake, however, some people are unhappy with it being there at all.

It is a rather expensive supplement. If the maximum dosage is taken every day then one bottle only provides a 30-day supply, which makes it expensive, particularly as it may not do a lot.

Keto Vitals Concerns:

  • Contains rice flour, a carb
  • The supplement is expensive and could be a waste of money
  • Very little information about the company available

What Does Keto Vitals Claim To Do?

Keto Vitals claims to promote sound sleep, increased energy, elevated mood, and healthy muscle function, which is accomplished by replenishing the key electrolytes your body expels on a low carb or ketogenic diet.

Does Keto Vitals Work?

We think that it is unlikely that this supplement will do what it claims to do. It will help to replenish some of the electrolytes lost due to a ketogenic diet, but the ingredients are at too low levels to replace them completely.

This supplement will not meet the claims that it will help with sleep, give increased energy, improved mood and mental clarity, and healthy muscle function as the doses are just too low, even taken at the maximum dosage of 4 capsules a day.

What Are The Ingredients of Keto Vitals?

The ingredients found in Keto Vitals are detailed below. Ingredient quantities listed are per single capsule, and consumers can take up to 4 capsules in any 24 hour period.

Are There Any Customer Reviews For Keto Vitals?

There are lots of customer reviews on Amazon US, the majority of which are positive and report good customer service.

Examples include,

Product stopped leg cramps from the first day I took it. Company sent a 10% coupon for next order which didn’t work so I wrote them back and they replied within a few minutes apologizing and saying they would send a 20% coupon shortly. As promised I received the 20% coupon within a few hours, and was able to successfully apply it to my 2nd order today.

I started the Keto Lifestyle a little over a month ago, and this type of supplement was recommended to me by a collegue. The company is great, and a rep even checked-in via email to make sure that I was satisfied with the product… which I am 100% satisfied with. I take one pill a day, and it helps with my mental fog and keeps the cramps away.

There are some negative reviews, the majority of which complain about quite a lot of empty capsules, however, the company have now addressed this problem with the addition of rice flour.

The vitamins themselves are as good as the other Keto-specific brands I’ve tried. The only disappointing thing is that I’ve found a number of capsules empty. I’m not sure if they’re defective or were improperly handled, but they seem to have small slices in them.

Some people have mentioned the very low levels of ingredients in the product,

The percentages are beyond low on these “high dose” electrolytes! This is not what it claims…do not purchase! Read the nutrition facts…I wish I had not been in a hurry before purchasing…but I’ll just take four a day horse pills and be done with them just to get close 10-20% a day!
