Lean Body comes from Labrada a company founded by former professional bodybuilder, Lee Labrada, a top level contestant in competitions such as Mr Universe which he won in 1985, Mr Olympia, and countless other international competitions. As his bodybuilding career came to an end in 1995, he found Labrada Nutrition to help other people achieve their health and fitness goals.
Not suitable if you are sensitive or allergic to soy or milk products. Other side effects may include; bloating, thirst, stomach cramps, nausea, fatigue, and headaches.
The larger sized tetra pak contains 40g of protein and comes in 500ml (17 fl oz) size. 12 x 17fl oz containers costs $38.49.
You can obtain a 5% discount by signing up to subscribe and save. However in our opinion this small discount is not worth the risk of being locked into potentially a hard-to-cancel regular payment agreement.
You can also buy Labrada RTD via Amazon USA and Amazon UK for comparable prices.
Labrada Lean Body RTD Review
Labrada Lean Body RTD is a range of “ready to drink” protein shakes which come in a bottle size of 500ml (17fl oz), or alternatively the more convenient 340ml (11.05 fl oz).
Most protein shakes on the market come in powdered form which you have to add to milk or water yourself. Labrada Lean Body by contrast is already mixed for you, so you do not have to worry about the powder clumping or finding a container should you wish to take a ready mixed shake with you.
There are eight flavours to choose from: Chocolate, Vanilla, Strawberry, Banana, Cookies and Cream, Salted Caramel, Cinammon Bun, and Cafe Mocha. Annoyingly you cannot buy a mixed pack of flavours; you have to stick with one, but of course if you are fans of Lean Body there is nothing to stop you buying a selection of flavours in order to mix it up a bit.
The small bottles of the Shake contain 25g per serving of LeanPro protein which is in line with many protein shakes which in general contain around 25g per serving. The 500ml size Tetra Pak contains 40mg of protein per bottle. In addition the Shakes are billed as Gluten, Sugar & lactose free.
We are struggling to understand this last claim because Lean Body is based on milk protein and whey protein, so if you are lactose intolerant it will not be suitable. There is a warning that states that this supplement contains Milk and Soy.
LeanPro protein is an exclusive Labrada product. According to the advertising, it is based on whey protein and milk protein and is fortified with additional vitamins and minerals.
How to Take Labrada Lean Body RTD
- Drink when you want
- Use as a post workout supplement, meal replacement or snack
Lean Body RTD comes from Labrada, a well established US supplements company found in 1995 by bodybuilder Lee Labrada. All supplements are to do with health, nutrition, and weight loss.
You are encouraged to sign up to a “subscribe and save” option when you buy. This reduces the cost by 5% and ensures “you never run out of supplements”.
Subscribe and save is an auto ship agreement that sends you fresh supplies each month, and bills your credit card or bank account automatically. We advise caution. These types of agreement can be hard to cancel and although there is a customer service phone number provided, there are no details about how to stop your subscribe and save or if there are any strings attached.
The terms of the subscribe and save option should have been outlined in the terms and conditions. Worryingly there are no terms and conditions, so cancelling may be harder than you think!
Labrada Lean Body RTD Concerns:
- Advertised as suitable for lactose intolerant but contains milk products
- You are urged to sign up for subscribe and save but will this agreement be easy to cancel?
Other Labrada supplements include Lean Body Meal Replacement, a meal replacement protein powder, and Elasti Joint, designed for athletes in order to reduce joint pain.
We covered Lean Body For Her in a previous review, a fat burning capsule specifically aimed at women.
What Does Labrada Lean Body RTD Claim To Do?
The product advertising explains how Lean Body RTD will help you achieve your goal:
“Whatever goal drives you, Lean Body® Ready-to-Drink (RTD) Shakes can help you reach it. Formulated with 40 grams of high-quality protein and zero sugar per serving, Lean Body® RTDs support muscle tone and fat loss, all in one delicious, convenient shake.”
The Shake is described as suitable for people with food intolerances, as well as healthy yet tasty:
“Of course, what’s not in your RTD is just as important as what’s in it. That’s why Lean Body® RTDs are sugar-free, gluten-free, lactose-free and trans fat-free. All these “free-froms” are paired with a delicious, creamy taste that hits the spot every time.”
We don’t believe this. How can a supplement be described as lactose free when like this supplement it contains milk products?
One of the touted advantages of this supplement is that it will help you curb appetite and food cravings:
“The exclusive LeanPro® protein blend helps you feel more full and satisfied. And when you feel satisfied, you’re less likely to over-indulge in unhealthy snacks. And when you skip unhealthy snacks? You got it… You’re more likely to stay lean.”
One of the major points about this supplement is that it will help you avoid unhealthy fast food outlets:
“Lean Body® RTDs also make it easy to reach your goals because of their convenient, take-anywhere format. After all, when it comes to shaping up, being prepared is half the battle. If you always have great nutrition at your fingertips, you’ll be less tempted to hit those fast food drive-thrus on every corner. At home or on the go, Lean Body® RTDs have you covered with high-protein, ready-made nutrition at your fingertips.”
Does Labrada Lean Body RTD Work?
Yes, we think that Lean Body RTD will work for some people but it all depends upon your own habits and lifestyle. If as the product advertising says, you regularly call into fast food takeaways, then Lean Body RTD will help you resist this temptation. You can use the Shake as a meal replacement, or just as a way of managing hunger pangs until you can find something healthy to eat. You could use it as a post workout or training supplement too, and it should help your build muscle as well as helping you lose fat.
Another advantage is that because it comes as a ready mixed drink, it is easy and convenient to use. It would be no trouble to slip a tetra pak or small bottle into your car or your gym bag for whenever you need it.

Are There Any Customer Reviews For Labrada Lean Body RTD?
There are hundreds of customer reviews left for Lean Body RTD on Amazon USA alone. The reviews look genuine and the overriding opinion is positive.
Positive comments include,
These are great to have for busy work days when you can’t take a lunch. I always enjoy it as a snack or dessert as well. I can say it doesn’t have the best flavor, but the nutrition more than makes up for it….
Some people have mentioned using the shakes for health reasons,
I recently had surgery and have been through so many protein shakes. The gross tasting, thick and chunky and these are awesome. The taste is great and these have a lot of protein that I need to start my day.
Some users enjoy the taste,
These cookies and cream protein shakes are easily the best on the market. Doesn’t taste like the super fake sugar drinks some other brands put out?
Other users do not share this opinion,
Tried the salted caramel one, tastes like crap, don’t know how all you folks can drink this junk as it has a very very overpowering fake sweetener taste to it. Why can’t you use real sugar and have something that actually tastes good?
Although most feedback is positive and most people are satisfied by this protein shake, hardly anyone has mentioned weight loss or muscle building as a result of using this supplement.
