We take a look at Meratrim Platinum to find out more.
Stimulant free? Weight Loss breakthrough? According to Isatori, the company behind Meratrim Platinum, this supplement is all these things and may help you lose up to 4.5lbs within two weeks.
Meratrim has been featured on the Dr Oz show but surprisingly in view of this media exposure; there are very few customer reviews for this product.
Meratrim Platinum is a US diet supplement made by Biogenetic Labs based in Colorado. This company come under the umbrella of Isatori Inc a major US supplement company with a presence on the US stock market.
Isatori produce numerous health and weight loss products including Lean System 7 a diet pill which we reviewed (and rejected) in a previous report.
Meratrim Platinum contains L Carnitine and Green tea as well as Sphaeranthus Indicus flower and Garcinia Mangostana fruit rind.
According to the advertising, the combination of Sphaeranthus Indicus and Garcinia Mangostana fruit rind was clinically tested on 100 volunteers and when compared to a placebo was found to achieve safe weight loss. The combination has been described as a “novel and new herbal formulation”.
The other ingredients in this supplement are L Carnitine and Green tea, there to provide some extra support to this new formula.
The Bio Genetics website is expensive looking and glossy. The product range is extensive and the information provides what consumers need to know.
Therefore there is a clear and transparent ingredients profile and links to clinical evidence, which is good.
Dr Oz has featured Meratrim Platinum on his show and carried out his own weight loss experiment regarding this supplement. In this, 30 audience volunteers took the diet pill for three weeks and reported average weight loss of 3lbs and an average of 3 inches off their waist measurements.
Meratrim Platinum comes with its own weight loss plan which you get free with the product. Although we cannot see all the details the basic idea is that you restrict your calories to 2000 a day and take 30 minutes of exercise each day.
Dr OZ has devised his own three-step plan for maximising the effects of Meratrim. He advises that you should;
To use Meratrim Platinum, take one serving of two capsules twice a day, preferably on an empty stomach.
Take one serving on waking before breakfast and the second serving six hours later between lunch and dinner.
The product information advises that you follow the diet plan, which comes included with each purchase. In brief this is to exercise for 30 minutes a day and restrict your daily calorie count to 2000.
The problem with all of this is that does the weight loss come from the diet pill or simply from a change to lifestyle?
Walking 30 minutes a day will undoubtedly have a beneficial weight loss effect and many people would lose 3lbs in 3 weeks by doing this alone without going to the expense and bother of buying and taking a diet pill.
We are not so sure about the pomegranate vinegar recommendation but we can’t see why it should do you any harm.
According to the website information,
Start today, and although results may vary, you could experience similar results to those test subjects in the most recent clinical studies, such as
After two weeks:
After eight weeks:
We love the expression “up to”. It does not really mean anything and there is no assurance that your weight loss will necessarily be the same as this.
The advertising includes a graph, which shows the effects of Meratrim when compared to the placebo.
Meratrim is a stimulant free general-purpose diet pill. It is not a fat burner or appetite suppressant and despite the “scientific” explanation, it is not really clear how it actually works.
So let’s take a look at the ingredients profile. Amounts given are in serving size of two capsules and are not the contents of each capsule.
Meratrim proprietary blend (400mg). This contains two ingredients Sphaeranthus indicus flower heads and Garcinia mangostana fruit rind.
East Globe Indian Thistle is at a crossroads of being amazingly promising yet not having sufficient evidence to support its usage. The lack of side-effects attributed to it may merely be secondary to it not having a large usage in society or sufficient testing.
In other words, nobody knows if there are any side effects
The clinical evidence provided by Meratrim suggests that when combined these ingredients may cause significant weight loss. While it is true the test results were positive in one clinical trial, this formula requires further evaluation and testing.
In addition to the formula Meratrim Platinum also contains:
We feel that the Meratrim formula requires more clinical evidence about how it works and the results you can expect. There are obviously potential health applications for the two ingredients but these are unproven and side effects are unknown. The green tea is in a very small amount and although L-Carnitine is an amino acid with health benefits, there is no evidence that it will actually improve weight loss (see our L-Carnitine article for more information.
Although Dr Oz has got behind this supplement, his weight loss experiment and advice relies on making changes to diet and lifestyle.
3lbs in two weeks is around what you can expect from making small dietary changes and increasing your exercise, and is not conclusive proof that it has anything to do with this pill.
This supplement is stimulant free so should not cause any of the usual stimulant side effects but the long term effects of the two key ingredients are unknown due to a lack of conclusive clinical evaluation.
There is very little customer feedback but the good news is that none of the available reviews have mentioned any side effects.
Caution: Avoid if pregnant or breast feeding. Do not take if you have an underlying health condition or are taking medication. The key ingredients have not been tested for long-term safety and there may be interactions with prescription drugs or side effects that have yet to be discovered.
Yes, there are a few.
Meratrim appears to have a placebo effect according to some satisfied customers but as they are losing weight, they are happy.
I have been taking this for 1.5 weeks and so far have lost 5 lbs!
I’m following the recommended diet (~2000 calories/day, 30 min activity/day) but I just average 30 min/day over the course of the week, so some days longer workouts and others none at all.
I know that watching my calorie intake and increasing my exercise is the main cause of weight loss, but having this additional supplement makes there be much faster results!
Another customer keeps forgetting to take the pill but is still losing weight. She was advised by her physician to adopt a gluten free diet at around the same time as she tried Meratrim, so it is possible that this dietary change is the major cause of weight loss.
I have struggled with my weight all my life. To date I have lost almost 10 lbs however I have often forgotten to take the second dose after the recommended 6 hours. I am happy about my weight loss and will definitely purchase this item again
Not everyone is as pleased;
I exercised several times a week with this and even stuck to the 2000 calorie diet and couldn’t lose weight. I won’t buy this again. For two weeks, I even went down to a 1200 calorie diet to see if that worked. Everyone works differently though, so this might just be a case where it doesn’t work for me, but might for you.
Doesn’t work as advertised. Not happy with product, would return if able to.
We think the free diet that comes with Meratrim will work. 2000 calories a day plus 30 minutes exercise a day will help most people lose weight. However, we are not as impressed with Meratrim Platinum itself.
The supplement does not appear to cause weight loss beyond what you could expect by making dietary changes without the aid of a pill over the same time period.
You can buy Meratrim direct from the Biogenetics website.
One bottle of 90 capsules (45 servings) costs $31.49. If you take at the recommended four capsules a day, this will last you just 22 days which is inconvenient and expensive.
The shipping costs are not given unless you sign up to the site and complete your details, which we were reluctant to do.
You can also buy Meratrim Platinum via Amazon.com. One container of 90 capsules costs $25.99. You can qualify for free shipping if you increase your order to over $35.00.
Meratrim Platinum is not available direct to international customers. Your best bet is to contact the company to find out delivery details and whether they will ship abroad.
Biogenetics Labs do not offer a money back guarantee.
We are not impressed with Meratrim Platinum. The product website looks good and the company behind this product seems reputable but the diet pill itself leaves a lot to be desired.
The problem is that the key ingredients and the Meratrim trade marked formula have undergone very limited clinical testing. Although preliminary results look encouraging, one test does not prove it works for everyone under non test conditions.
We are also concerned about the long-term safety of these ingredients. They are natural but does that necessarily make them safe?
We feel that any positive results may come mainly from the calorie controlled and exercise plan that comes with the product. The very limited feedback seems to suggest that it does.
Maybe time and further testing will prove us wrong but we have heard about wonder ingredients before and call us cynical, but we just are not convinced by claims. We need some real proof and hard evidence first. For all these reasons, we have no other choice but to reject this supplement.
Thousands of customers have cut the fat with this fast and powerful thermogenic fat burner. Can suppress appetite, boost energy levels and elevate mood without the jitters.
