Below we take an in-depth look to see if Oxyshred from EHP Labs is an effective weight loss aid, or merely an expensive supplement.
Oxyshred from EHP Labs is supposedly a potent fat burner. However, the ingredients list contains many ingredients that are under-researched, with their effects upon the body being poorly understood. The formula seems to rely on Acetyl-L-Carnitine and large quantities of caffeine to provide energy to the consumer, as well as a small boost to the metabolism.
However, we suspect that genuine customers rarely see dramatic weight loss results using this product, but do experience a variety of caffeine related side effects.
Side effects can include headaches, increased heart rate, increased blood pressure, heart palpitations, increased urination, dehydration, jitteriness, dizziness, and insomnia. For a full list, please see the Side Effects section below.
From EHP Labs, a single tub costs $69.95 plus delivery charges.
Oxyshred is a thermogenic powder manufactured and sold by EHP Labs. EHP Labs offer $10 welcome gift discount to subscribers to their newsletter, to be taken off first order from their website. The manufacturer is based in New York, USA, although their products are manufactured in Salt Lake City. The company state that,
EHPlabs is a revolutionary health and fitness nutritional supplement company dedicated to developing the most effective and efficacious products.
Oxyshred comes in a choice of wild melon, guava paradise, kiwi strawberry or pink grapefruit flavours. The manufacturers state that all of their flavours are delicious, with pink grapefruit being more citrusy than sweet, whilst the other flavours are ‘well balanced and on the sweeter fruitier side’.
For optimum results take twice daily – Mix 1 scoop with 10 ounces (295 ml) of chilled water first thing in the morning on an empty stomach.
On training days, take another 1 scoop with 240-295mL of cold water in the afternoon no later than 5pm.
Avoid eating or consuming a protein shake within 20 minutes after consumption for maximum absorption.
Do not exceed more than 2 scoops per day.
Keep in cool dry place out of direct sunlight. Store below 30°C.
Raspberry ketone has no clinical support from studies in humans, having been tested exclusively in animals and test tube trials. Whilst it could be a promising fat burner, this lack of research means we have no idea what results can be expected from its use.
Green coffee bean was thought to be an incredible fat burner until recently, when the main research was exposed as fraudulent and was retracted. It may still aid weight loss minimally, purely because of the natural caffeine content.
There seems to be a large amount of caffeine in the product, which probably accounts for much of the energy boost that consumers report. Chromium lowers and stabilises blood sugar levels, which can help to reduce cravings for food. Many of the other ingredients have incredibly limited or mixed clinical evidence to support their use as fat burners, appetite suppressants and exercise aids.
The official manufacturer’s website has provided the following description of Oxyshred:
OxyShred by EHPlabs is a scientifically researched and efficaciously dosed potent thermogenic fat burner. It will stimulate your body’s fat receptor cells and boost your metabolism to promote an increased level of fat cell break-down, known as “Hyper-Lipolysis”. OxyShred also has the added benefits of kick starting the metabolism, boosting immunity and providing a natural boost of energy. 100% natural delicious flavors makes OxyShred a pleasure to drink.
The customer reviews and complaints about fake reviews on forums would suggest to us that at least some of the positive comments about the product are written by company reps. There are customer reviews that state that the product does increase energy levels dramatically, but also comes with side effects. Others also found that despite the increase in energy levels, they noticed little or no actual weight loss whilst using the product.
The ingredients list consists of several proprietary formulas, which makes it difficult to establish just how much of each ingredient is used in Oxyshred. It does appear that there is a large quantity of caffeine per serving, which would provide a significant energy boost, but is also likely to cause some side effects, especially insomnia.
Many of the other ingredients used have incredibly limited clinical evidence to support their inclusion in Oxyshred.
Whilst there may be little clinical evidence at this time, it does not necessarily mean that the ingredients are not effective. However, consumers should be aware that raspberry ketone, green coffee bean, and African mango are often overly hyped as weight loss aids.
There are lots of ingredients that will increase energy levels, delay fatigue, and aid recovery from exercise; these ingredients will all benefit customers who are working out regularly as a part of their weight loss program. However, there are not as many strong fat-burning ingredients used in this diet product as the manufacturers state.

The manufacturers mention no possible side effects in their description of the product. However, this does not mean that side effects are not possible. Below is a list of many of the possible side effects that can be caused by each individual ingredient.
Consuming large quantities of caffeine can lead to headaches, increased heart rate, increased blood pressure, heart palpitations, increased urination, dehydration, jitteriness, dizziness, and insomnia.
Side effects of acetyl-l-carnitine include stomach upset, nausea, vomiting, and restlessness. It can cause a “fishy” odour of the urine, breath, and sweat, especially when consumed in large quantities.
Higenamine has not been studied in humans and so its safety is unknown. However, as a stimulant, it can increase blood pressure and heart rate, and could cause heart palpitations.
Inulin can cause bloating, abdominal cramping, loose stools, gas and more frequent bowel movements. Chromium Picolinate can lower blood sugar levels, making it unsuitable for diabetics. If blood sugar levels become very low, usually when the consumer has also not eaten recently, they can feel lightheaded, dizzy, and even faint.
This product is not a sole source of nutrition and should be used in conjunction with an appropriate physical training or exercise programme.
Not suitable for children under 21 years of age or pregnant women.
Should only be used under medical or dietetic supervision.
Not suitable for those who are sensitive to caffeine and other stimulants.
Not suitable for diabetics.
Oxyshred is sold through a number of different third party retailers, as well as through the manufacturer’s official website. The below customer review was located on the product page at Punch Supplements, a New Zealand based supplier of the product.
I heard lots of buzz about Oxyshred so gave it a go, sceptically. Glad I did though as what I heard turned out to be true. I lost weight almost immediately and was down 2kg’s in the first week. That for me was fantastic as I don’t drop weight easily, so was delighted with this result. In my third week now and have lost 4kg’s. So happy, pleased to recommend Oxyshred to anyone looking to drop weight.
There are also some product reviews in the forums on bodybuilding.com. Comments on the forums suggest that the manufacturers of Oxyshred have been caught posting fake reviews for their product in the past.
I bought this product because of its great reviews and I have to say I am really disappointed. I have a very healthy diet and I workout at least 4 times a week and I saw little to no results with this. I do admit doubled as a pre workout it gave me a lot of energy but I would probably never buy this again. I will probably try their pre workout but I would not recommend this to anyone I know.
So after all the awesome reviews for oxyshred I brought it for $80 i took a hit today at 4:30 pm only a 1/4 scoop as it’s not early in day just to test the flavour, tolerance Ect. Felt like I had to sip it slow to drink it idk. Tastes really nice. I felt so happy positive and really good straight away I noticed my energy rose. I also had to go toilet. Noticed chest pain on and off later on and After a few hours I feel more tired and heavier than usual but I can’t sleep I took it about 4:30 pm it’s almost midnight. It’s like my bodies tired but my minds racing if that makes sense. I really liked the happy feeling I got but I think the cons out weigh the pros especially cause of the chest pain. I’m not caffeine sensitive I can drink a few coffees and not feel bad in a day and I haven’t had any caffeine today except a green tea after I woke up. Looking back I think most reviews for oxyshred must be fake so thought I’d put my genuine review for anyone searching. I would score this item 50/50 not sure if I will continue tomorrow and risk more random bursts of heart pain.
No money-back guarantee is offered by EHP Labs. They only accept returns on faulty products or products that have ‘been supplied incorrectly’ by EHP Labs. ‘Change of mind’ returns are not accepted.
Oxyshred can be purchased from the manufacturer, EHP labs, as well as through some third party retailers. From EHP labs, a single tub costs $69.95 plus delivery charges. A two pack of Oxyshred costs $139.90 and comes with a free tub of acetyl-L-carntine.
The product is also available from Punch Supplements, a company based in New Zealand. A single tub costs NZ$94.95 plus delivery charges.
International customers should be aware that they may be charged customs fees, and may also be charged currency conversion fees by their bank. One Canadian customer reported paying $66 of customs charges on top of a $150 purchase.
Considering that this product is fairly expensive, it is disappointing to find that the company does not accept any ‘change of mind’ returns, and has no money-back guarantee.
Overall, we are not very impressed with Oxyshred and would not recommend it to our readers as a weight loss aid. It may be a good pre-workout energy booster, but this appears to be the limit of the product.
