Protein World Slender Blend is a meal replacement shake that uses whey concentrate as its principal ingredient. As this product is supposed to be for weight loss, you should be aware that it is actually quite calorific, and may even be better used as a weight-gainer. There have been some controversies surrounding Protein World’s use of advertising and are even under investigation for mislabelling of their products. For a whey-based product, Slender Blend seems quite expensive.
We take an in-depth look at Protein World Slender Blend to see if it can aid weight loss sustainable and healthily.
Honestly, we are not impressed by Protein World Slender Blend at all.
Initially the product seems affordable, but customers should consider that the company use Whey Concentrate, which is the cheapest form of Whey protein available. The supplement is also described as being low-carb, but as a cheap form of whey is used, there is actually a significant amount of carbohydrates per 100 grams.
The company is also being investigated for mislabelling their products, as one independent test found that the products contains far higher levels of carbohydrates than claimed on the bottle. This further disproves the company’s claim that this is a low-carb product, and the real nutritional profile- much higher in carbs and lower in protein than claimed, means that the product is even less likely to aid weight loss, and is more likely to cause sugar crashes that leave the consumer feeling sluggish and tired.
They have added in caffeine and green tea, to boost weight loss further, but the quantities are so small that they will not make any impact to weight loss or energy levels.
Protein World Slender Blend can cause constipation, diarrhoea, severe stomach cramps, dehydration, nausea, fatigue, and bloating.
When bought from the official website, a jar containing 30 servings costs £32.00 and a bag containing 62 servings costs £58.00. There might be delivery charges.
Protein World Slender Blend is a powdered supplement that should be mixed with milk or a milk replacement. The manufacturers state that this supplement can be used to aid weight loss, primarily by using the low calorie shake as a liquid meal replacement. The product is available in the following flavours: chocolate, vanilla, banana, strawberry and unflavoured (called Naked).
Meal replacement drinks are not slimming drinks. This formula contains only 150 calories a serving, but this could easily be doubled or more after milk and fruit is added.
As a meal replacement, it is a low calorie alternative to actual food, but as it is a source of additional calories, you need to ensure you use it instead of a meal and not in addition to food. Some people find they put on weight with meal replacements if they fail to do this.
Add 40g (4 yellow scoops) to 400mls of water or unsweetened nut based milks (coconut, almond, and hazelnut).
The supplement comes with a scoop provided and a booklet, which contains recipes for Slender Blend drinks, such as adding raspberries, ice cubes and semi skimmed milk to the blend.
Protein World is a British company based in Surrey, England. The company specialise in protein products that according to their information are all derived from GMO free sources.
Protein World has come under some criticism recently; in May 2016, a British newspaper, the Sun, decided to have Slender Blend tested, and found that the powders contained a significantly higher amount of carbohydrates than the product’s label actually stated. The tests found that the chocolate flavour contained 41 grams of carbohydrates per 100g (the product’s label stated it contains only 21 grams of carbs per 100 grams). The label also said that there are 70g of protein per 100g, but the tests found there were around 50g per 100g.
The company are being investigated by the local Trading Standards agency, and could be fined and forced to correct their packaging. The differences between the test results and the label information is dramatic, and it appears that the company have been misleading customers about the purity and effectiveness of their weight loss powders.
The manufacturers don’t actually explain how the product is supposed to work to aid weight loss, but just vaguely state that it has lots of benefits, as we have listed below.
When trying to establish whether a product will actually work, we look at the ingredients used, the quantities that they are used in, and also turn to customer reviews, to see how the product works in practice.
With the company being investigated for mislabelling their products, it is not even completely clear whether or not the nutritional information provided by the company is accurate. We dislike that this meal replacement product has no fibre in it at all; fibre regulates digestion, and would help the consumer to feel fuller for longer.
The protein source that is used is Whey concentrate, which also contains a significant amount of carbohydrates; there are purer forms of protein available, and we prefer to see products with lower quantities of sugar, as sugar will provide a quick energy boost followed by an energy slump. This weight loss shake does not appear to be an ideal formulation for either weight loss, replacing meals, or to help maximise muscle gains and toning.
Green tea and caffeine are often included in diet pills and weight loss supplements to boost the metabolism and thermogenesis, both of which will increase the number of calories burnt by the body. However, the amounts found in Protein World Slender Blend of both caffeine and green tea are so low that they are unlikely to have any impact upon energy levels or weight loss.

There are hundreds of customer reviews on the official Protein World website, all of which are not only positive, but five star rated. This does look suspicious to us, especially as we could not locate even one review that was four stars or less. We did find one negative review on amazon that may explain this:
I feel like i am the only one who didn’t lose weight using this. I have the weight loss collection. I use them diligently and hit the gym three times a wk. after two wks, I gained 1.5 kilos. I dont think that’s muscle gained. My clothes are all tighter and i feel bulkier. I am so disappointed. Worst part is protein world censored my feedback and didn’t publish my comments. They only publish good ones it seems.
With the company censoring negative feedback, it seems that the customer reviews on the official website are not 100% representative- yes, they do appear to be real, but negative reviews are deleted from the website, and so the website is heavily biased and misleading!!
Below we have found some reviews from amazon and other third party websites that Protein World cannot deleted comments from, as well as some positively rated reviews from the official website.
Loved this product, tasted great, great consistency then on my third order that I made this month they’ve completely changed the formula, it is now thick and powdery and the lovely taste has gone! Think about your customers Protein World!!
After reading these amazing reviews I was feeling extremely hopeful when placing and receiving my order. I started it just yesterday and soon came to realise this is probably the worst £65 I’ve ever spent. Not only is it the most revolting tasting shake but it has made me quite ill for the past couple of days, being unable to keep off the toilet & feeling the most horrific stomach cramps. The taste is extremely sweet and that is coming from me, a person with a very sweet tooth. I’ve tried mixing it with a variety of things including milk, water & fruit etc. Nothing has improved the awful taste.I am disappointed to say the least, not only to have wasted that amount of money but also reading these reviews & wondering how much these people are being paid to write so much sh*te. Do not waste your money. (P.S I wouldn’t even give it 1 star if I had a choice)
Was a little bit sceptical when i first purchased, as i saw a lot of good reviews on the Protein World website but also saw some bad ones on people’s blogs etc. Pleasantly surprised! I have been using the Slender Blend Vanilla Shake twice a day for a week with almond milk, and i have lost around 6 and a half pound! This is the only thing that has worked for me so far, and it keeps me filled meaning i don’t snack. I go to the gym 3/4 times a week so this has probably contributed also. I work part time in retail and go to university so i don’t have set lunch times as some people do in say a 9-5 job, so this works well for me as its easy to carry around in a shaker and i can drink it in my lectures and stuff. Very pleased. Also the vanilla shake tastes really nice which is a bonus!

The price of Slender Blend appears to vary dramatically between different third party retailers and the manufacturer’s website.
From the official website, a 1.2 kg jar (containing 30 servings) costs £32.00, and a 2.5 kg bag (62 servings) costs £58.00. Delivery charges may apply.
The company also offer a three-month autoship program that sends out three jars, spread over a period of around 44 days; customers who choose this option would receive a small discount, with each 1.2 kg jar costing £27.20. This offer also comes with a free bottle of Hunger Buster capsules, the company’s appetite suppressing diet pill. Overall,
On Superdrug.com, a 600 gram jar costs £19.99 plus delivery charges (free delivery with a Health & Beautycard).
From amazon, a 1.2 kg jar, containing 30 servings, costs £49.99. Delivery charges may apply, but customers with amazon prime can get free next day delivery.
The company has been criticised for its “body shaming” advertising campaigns in the past on social media, with some posters being defaced by protesters; The CEO of the company responded by saying they were ‘feminist terrorists’ and only opposed to his bikini-focussed campaign because they are ‘insecure’ about their own bodies.
It feels like a bad PR move in general to call your critics feminist terrorists. This, in combination with the company’s issues with labelling accuracy, misrepresenting their product, and exaggerating the benefits of their supplement, makes us heavily doubt the professional nature of the company.
In general, there are much better protein shakes and meal replacement shakes available on the market than Protein World Slender Blend. Therefore we do not recommend Protein World Slender Blend to our readers.
