    Everybody has heard about Multivitamins, but how much do we really know about them?

    Some people have even claimed that they do nothing to help prevent illnesses so we decided to look at the facts.

    What are Multivitamins?

    Multivitamins are nutritional supplements that are full of essential vitamins and minerals that we’re supposed to get from a healthy diet, but we all know that isn’t something that can be easily achieved.

    There is no standard definition so the composition and quality can vary slightly from product to product.

    What do they do?

    We require various vitamins and minerals on a daily basis to keep our body alive, healthy and functioning properly. Each type of vitamin does something different and so there are lots of forms out there on sale.

    They offer everything that we sometimes can’t get nowadays as we are plagued with fast and processed food. Especially when fruit and vegetables are so expensive when it’s out of season. Multivitamins are the answers to our prayers.

    Some people say that they will help you to lose fat, build muscle, increase strength, improve performance etc. but it’s not true.

    Are there any benefits?

    They can help to reduce the risk of diabetes, cancer, heart disease and other medical conditions. However, the benefits on the general public are varied and inconsistent.

    Studies have been done where one group took a vitamin and the other didn’t, and after four years it was conclusive that there was no difference between them.

    What about the side effects?

    You should always check with a doctor before taking any tablets of any kind but these are the safest kind of supplement out there and shouldn’t cause any side effects.

    Do they work?

    There are mixed reviews but it seems that yes, they offer you the nutrients that you need but don’t fall for the expensive brands that say they will help with other things, cause they won’t.

    When should you take multivitamins?

    You should take them if your diet isn’t as good as you want it to be. But it’s always best to try and do this by the usual method of trying to eat better.

    If you do have a deficiency such as an iron one, it can be good to take a supplement that will help you get the to the level that you need to be at. Even if your diet is really good you can still take them as a back up to make sure you definitely are getting what your body needs.

    There is a variety of types out there for a range of ages. There are supplements aimed at the elderly, men, women, vegans, people looking to fix their hair and even liquid based ones for kids.
