Silvets

Rating
The majority of manufacturers of weight loss supplements claim that their products are effective or superior to other supplements. The manufacturers of Silvets have gone one step further, claiming that their product is unique, with no other supplement combining the same ingredients (despite them all being incredibly common diet pill ingredients).

Below we take an in-depth look at Silvets, to see whether or not it is an effective weight loss aid as the manufacturers claim.

Silvets Pros

  • Caffeine and green tea have clinical support

Silvets Cons

  • Manufacturer and affiliate sellers make conflicting claims
  • Customer testimonials are fake

What You Need To Know About Silvets

Silvets is a weight loss supplement available throughout Europe and the UK. Many of the websites that sell it are affiliate websites that earn as much as 40% commission for any sales made. Unfortunately, this appears to have motivated some sales websites to make false and overreaching claims about the product’s uniqueness and potency. The testimonials used on silvets.co.uk are most likely fake, and some of the photos are of people who did not use Silvets to lose weight. Silvets is manufactured by Nuvia Labs, whose head office is based in Cyprus.

What Are The Side Effects Of Silvets?

Despite the manufacturer’s claims that this supplement is completely safe to use and side effect-free, there are actually several ingredients found in Silvets that could cause a range of side effects.

There appears to be no real research into the possibility of side effects of Acai Berry. It is possible to be allergic to acai plants, and so consumers who develop a rash or other side effects should stop using the product immediately.

Acai berry could lower blood sugar levels.

Side effects associated with caffeine include headaches, increased urination, jitteriness, dehydration, increased blood pressure, heart palpitations, and problems sleeping. Green tea can also cause constipation. Consumers should avoid other sources of caffeine whilst taking this supplement, to avoid increasing the chances of side effects developing. Consumers should also stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water throughout the day, and should not taking this product in the late afternoon or evening. These measures will minimise the chances of side effects occurring.

Bioperine can increase the absorption of caffeine and other stimulants, increasing their effectiveness, but also making side effects more likely. Bioperine can also affect the absorption of other medications, increasing the chances of accidental overdose.

Cayenne extract can cause heart burn, stomach aches, indigestion, increased sweating, and a runny nose.

L-Carnitine can cause side effects such as nausea, vomiting, stomach upset, heartburn, diarrhoea, and seizures. It can also cause the urine, breath, and sweat to have a “fishy” odour.

Chromium can lower blood sugar levels and is not suitable for diabetics.

How Much Does Silvets Cost?

When purchased direct from the manufacturer’s official website, a single bottle of Silvets costs £32.97 plus delivery charges. From the Nuvia Labs website two bottles cost £62.64. Three bottles cost £89.02. Six bottles cost £168.15. Twelve bottles cost £316.51. Delivery charges may apply.

There are discounts for bulk purchases. Affiliate third party sellers all appear to charge different prices, including significant discounts on bulk purchases such as 6 bottles for the price of three.

Our Verdict On Silvets

We are not impressed by Silvets at all. The manufacturers claim that the active ingredients have never been combined together in a diet pill before, but they are all very common diet pill ingredients.

There are numerous instances of conflicting information between the affiliate sales websites and the manufacturer’s official website; for example, Nuvia Lab claim that the product is manufactured in the UK, whilst on Silvets.co.uk it states that the product is manufactured in the USA.

The testimonials on affiliate sales websites are almost certainly fake, and they have stolen the image of a contestant from Australia’s Biggest Loser, claiming that she lost 60 kg using Silvets (the Biggest Loser contestants do not use any weight loss supplements, Silvet included).

It is unclear whether or not the product is covered by the money-back guarantee alluded to on the official website. Affiliate sellers state that there is no money-back guarantee, and the vague and inconsistent returns policy on the official website lead us to believe that customers with opened bottles are unlikely to get a refund.

As for the product itself, Silvets is not hugely impressive. The main ingredient is Acai berry, which has never been linked with weight loss or fat burning in any clinical studies, but which has been the subject of a lot of false hype, predominantly by Dr. Oz a few years ago. Other ingredients in the pill, such as cayenne, green tea, and caffeine sourced from guarana do have some clinical support, but they are available in hundreds of other diet pills that are better priced and better dosed.

The vague directions for use (2-4 capsules per day) means that the caffeine intake from a daily dose could be anywhere between 160 mg and 320 mg; the higher dose is similar to drinking four cups of coffee, and could definitely cause side effects, especially if the consumer is not reducing their caffeine intake from other sources (coffee, tea, soft drinks, etc).

Overall, we do not recommend Silvets to our readers.

Silvets Review

Silvets is a weight loss supplement that, according to the manufacturers, will boost the metabolism, speed up fat burning, provide an energy boost, reduce fatigue, and provide a supply of antioxidants. The manufacturers also claim that it is completely “safe and effective”, and assure customers that it is free of side effects. The product contains caffeine and several other ingredients that could cause a range of side effects in some cases; click on the Side Effects tab to read the full list.

Silvets Facts

  • Manufactured by Nuvia Labs
  • 60 capsules per bottle
  • Contains caffeine

Silvets was previously sold as Slimettes; although the product has been renamed, the style of the label and the actual ingredients list appear to be the same. It is unclear why the product has been rebranded without changing the formula in any way.

How to Take Silvets

The manufacturers have provided directions for use, but these are vague: “From 2 to 4 capsules per day.”

Silvets is manufactured by Nuvia Labs, who are based in Cyprus. The company can be contacted using the information provided on their official website. Silvets has been wrongly named as a product manufactured by a company called Key Products, who are based in the United Arab Emirates; this company is merely an affiliate sales company, but they are also responsible for the majority of the false advertising for Silvets. Although Key Products offer a significant discount on Silvets (through silvets.co.uk), they should be avoided as their terms and conditions are the most unforgiving.

Silvets Concerns:

  • Manufacturer and affiliate sellers make conflicting claims
  • Customer testimonials are fake
  • Confusing returns policy

Does Silvets Work?

Acai berry does not possess any traits that will aid weight loss, but it is high in anti-oxidants, which could be beneficial to general well-being. There is currently no clinical evidence to link acai berry with weight loss, appetite suppression, increased fat burning, or an increased metabolism.

One human trial has linked acai berry supplementation with decreased joint pain in consumers with osteoarthritis, which was correlated with an increase in antioxidant levels. There was no blinded control group, and so this could be a placebo effect.

Green tea has been linked with a small but significant amount of weight loss over time, as the EGCG content (a type of polyphenol and antioxidant) appears to stimulate thermogenesis. The green tea is Silvets has seemingly been standardised for its polyphenol content, but it does not specify what percentage of this is EGCG. Other polyphenols do have some health benefits, but might not stimulate thermogenesis or weight loss. Cayenne has also been linked to increased thermogenesis.

The vague directions for use (2-4 capsules per day) means that the caffeine intake from a daily dose could be anywhere between 160 mg and 320 mg; the higher dose is similar to drinking three to four cups of coffee, and could definitely cause side effects, especially if the consumer is not reducing their caffeine intake from other sources (coffee, tea, soft drinks, etc).

L-Carnitine L-Tartrate does not appear to aid weight loss in general, and the doses needed to support physical performance and to improve power output are much higher than the dose found in even four capsules of Silvets.

Overall, Silvets contains some ingredients that could aid a small amount of weight loss, but results are unlikely to be dramatic.

What Are The Ingredients of Silvets?

The ingredients found in Silvets are detailed below. No individual ingredient quantities are provided on the majority of the affiliate websites that sell the product, but the manufacturer’s official website does provide individual ingredient quantities. The quantities listed below are per serving of one capsule.

  • Acai berry 200mg 4:1 extract (an equivalent of 800mg of fruit): A berry that has been wrongly hyped up as a weight-loss super-food, Acai berry use in diet pills has rocketed in recent years. Acai berry is high in Anthocyanins, antioxidants which may help to protect the body against cancer, inflammation, aging, neurological diseases, diabetes, and bacterial infections. However, any claims that it aids weight loss are unproven. Source
  • Guarana seed 400mg 4:1 extract (equivalent of 1600mg of fruit): A berry that is naturally high in caffeine, it is often an ingredient in energy drinks and diet pills.
  • Green tea 240mg extract (equivalent of 2400mg of leaves) (95% polyphenols): Green tea is high in a group of antioxidants called catechins. Studies have suggested that catechins increase thermogenesis in the body, whilst caffeine increases energy expenditure by boosting the metabolism slightly for few hours. Source
  • Cayenne pepper 12.5mg 8:1 extract (equivalent of 100mg of pepper pods): Capsaicin, found in Cayenne pepper, is thought by some to play a role in weight loss. Some studies suggest it could suppress the appetite mildly, whilst others suggest that the heat causes a thermogenic reaction in the body, burning more calories for a period of time. However, there are also studies that show cayenne has little or no effect upon weight loss attempts. Source
  • L-carnitine tartrate 80 mg: One study found that supplementation of L-carnitine, L-tartrate reduced muscle tissue damage from exercise and sped up recovery time. Compared to other forms of l-carnitine, it is more commonly used to boost muscular performance than contribute to weight loss. Standard dosages of L-Carnitine Tartrate are usually much higher than the dose found in a single capsule of Silvets. Source
  • Bioperine 2.5 mg: This patented Black pepper extract is used for increasing the bioavailability of nutritional compounds. In other words, it increases the amounts of nutrients that are absorbed into the body in the digestive tract. It may also increase the absorption of various drugs, which may lead to potential side effects. Source
  • Chromium Picolinate 10 mcg (25% RDA): This is used primarily to lower fasting blood sugar levels, and to lower insulin levels in people who have type 2 diabetes. In terms of its potential effect upon weight loss, it is possible that taking chromium picolinate by mouth for 2 to 3 months might produce a small weight loss of about 1.1 kg. Obviously this is an incredibly small amount of weight loss, but studies are still inconclusive. It also helps to reduce insulin resistance. Source
  • Vitamin D3 (Cholecalciferol) 10 mcg (200% RDA)

Does Silvets Have Any Side Effects?

Despite the manufacturer’s claims that this supplement is completely safe to use and side effect-free, there are actually several ingredients found in Silvets that could cause a range of side effects.

There appears to be no real research into the possibility of side effects of Acai Berry. It is possible to be allergic to acai plants, and so consumers who develop a rash or other side effects should stop using the product immediately.

Acai berry could lower blood sugar levels.

Although the caffeine content is not revealed in the supplement facts section of the website, the bottle’s label states that each serving contains 80 mg of caffeine.

Chromium Picolinate can lower blood sugars levels and as such should not be used by diabetics without first consulting their doctor. Low blood sugar levels can lead to light headedness, dizziness, and even fainting. Customers who have not eaten for several hours are more likely to experience these side effects.

Caution:
Not suitable for pregnant or breastfeeding women. Not suitable for anyone under the age of 18. Not suitable for anyone who is sensitive to caffeine and other stimulants. Bioperine can increase the absorption of numerous medications and so anyone taking prescription medications should check with their doctor to ensure the suitability of this supplement for you. Not suitable for diabetics without advance approval from your doctor.

Are There Any Customer Reviews For Silvets?

Customer testimonials are provided on the Silvets sales websites, but we believe that they are all fake. There are numerous websites selling to different European countries that all feature the same testimonials, but the names and locations of the people change depending upon the target market. One of the images used is reportedly a stolen image of a previous Australia’s Biggest Loser competitor, who lost 62 kg, but not through taking Silvets (in her “before” picture she is wearing a “Biggest Loser” t-shirt). Because of this blatant dishonesty on the sales websites, we cannot trust any of the testimonials provided on the sales websites.

We were unable to locate any genuine, independent customer reviews of Silvets. If you have tried this supplement, please leave a quick review of your experience in the comments section below!

Does Silvets Offer a Money-Back Guarantee?

The returns policy for Silvets is not very clear. The manufacturers state on their website on the Quality Policy page that they offer a 90-day money-back guarantee, and instruct customers to read the full terms and conditions for more information.

We confirm our experience and our belief in the quality of sold products by providing 90-day money-back guarantee. If a customer is not satisfied with the purchased products, the money spent on these products is refunded to the customer. Information on the complaints procedure can be found in our Terms & Conditions.

However, this money-back guarantee is not mentioned elsewhere on the website, and the returns policy page of the same website states that opened products are not accepted for return:

Please remember that not all products can be returned (unless faulty, of course). This is normally for hygiene reasons and covers items such as any product that comes in direct contact with the skin, or any opened and used cosmetics, tablets or supplements.

With the refund policy being unclear, it is best to contact the company to discuss your personal circumstances.

Where Can I Buy Silvets?
