Slimae Weight Loss Vitamins

Whilst many diet pill companies pride themselves for their professionalism, their high quality products and their informative (and accurate) websites, other companies, simply put, do not. Instead they provide the absolute minimum of information about their products, which may be inaccurate, poorly spelt and overstated, and spend their time finding new ways to extract money from their customers, whilst providing as little as possible in return.

Below we take an in-depth look at Slimae Weight Loss Vitamins (also known as My-Diet Weight Loss Vitamins) to see whether they are a good option for a weight loss supplement.

Slimae Weight Loss Vitamins Pros

  • White Kidney Bean has some clinical support as a carb blocker

Slimae Weight Loss Vitamins Cons

  • No money-back guarantee (despite what manufacturers claim)
  • Subscription for food tracking membership added on

What You Need To Know About Slimae Weight Loss Vitamins

Slimae Weight Loss Vitamins are a weight loss supplement that are available exclusively online from several websites; they appear to act primarily as carb blockers, but also contain a small amount of caffeine for a boost to energy levels. They are also known as My-Diet Weight Loss Vitamins.

When purchasing from the sales websites customers are heavily encouraged (and guilt-tripped) by the website to sign up for a free trial of the company’s food tracking program. This is where we suspect the company make the majority of their money; after a two or three day trial, customers are charged either £20 or £45 a month for access to this service.

What Are The Side Effects Of Slimae Weight Loss Vitamins?

The main ingredient of Slimae Weight Loss Vitamin is a carb-blocking ingredient, White Kidney Bean Extract.

It is possible that whilst the body is getting used to the effects of the product, users may experience stomach pains, increased bowel movements and flatulence. Some users of carb blockers in general report severe gas and bloating throughout their use of the products. Discomfort and tenderness in the stomach is not uncommon.

The use of carb blockers may seriously reduce or limit the creation of alpha-amylase, the enzyme that breaks down carbohydrates in the stomach. Whilst this will aid weight loss in the short term, it may become unhealthy to continue this in the long term.

Some users of carb-blockers report heartburn, as their body struggles to adapt to the imbalance of enzymes in the stomach. Consumers who eat large amounts of carbohydrates whilst using the diet pill may experience sudden diarrhoea following meals. This is because of the large amount of food that is being passed through the digestive tract without being fully digested.

How Much Does Slimae Weight Loss Vitamins Cost?

The price of a bottle of Slimae Weight Loss Vitamins is incredibly low, but as customers are signed up for a “free trial” of the Foodae food tracking website which just a few days later charges customers between £20 and £45 (on a monthly basis), it is ultimately poor value for money. As the free trial is only for two or three days, customers may be charged an additional £45 even before the product reaches them.

From Slimae.co.uk, a single bottle costs £9.99. Two bottles cost £14.99. A bulk order of 4 bottles costs £24.99. All reportedly come with free delivery and next day shipping. my-diet.co.uk, charges just £1.00 for the initial bottle of the Weight Loss Vitamins (reduced from £9.99 reportedly), but customers are charged £45 a month for Foodae, a meal tracking system (after the 2 day trial ends). The 2 days free trial is already included, and there is no clear way of opting out from the ordering page. Customers who choose this purchasing option should phone the company immediately to cancel their My-Diet/ Foodae trial.

Our Verdict On Slimae Weight Loss Vitamins

We are not impressed by Slimae Weight Loss Vitamins or their manufacturer, Kleio Ltd, at all. The product name is simply misleading, as it contains just one vitamin out of the four active ingredients. The company appear to be very unprofessional, with numerous basic spelling mistakes on the official website. The quiz that consumers are made to take to “help choose the right product for them” gives the same recommendation every time, and is essentially a way of getting the customer’s email address. The manufacturers state that they offer a 30-day money back guarantee, but the terms and conditions reveal that this is simply not the case.

The product itself appears to be a way of getting a customer’s card details and to sign them up for a two or three day trial for their online food tracking program. This then leads to a monthly subscription that charges customers anywhere between £20 and £45 a month to access the food tracker. We dislike free trial/auto-ship programs anyway, but here customers are not even being shipped a physical product! There are many apps and websites that offer food tracking services for free as well, which merely rubs salt into the wound!

Carb blocking products are not going to be an ideal diet supplement for everyone. It is easy to overeat whilst using this type of product, as consumers often overestimate the effect of carb-blockers, and so may even gain weight whilst using this product. They are also not suitable for long-term use, especially as they may interfere with vitamin absorption and could have effects upon enzymes in the stomach that could impact the consumer in the long term. As there are numerous potential side effects, customers should consider starting with a small dose and increasing it as required. This product should also be considered for short term or occasional use, rather than for long-term supplementation.

Overall, we do not recommend Slimae Weight Loss Vitamins (or My-Diet Weight Loss Vitamins) to our readers.

Slimae Weight Loss Vitamins Facts

  • Manufactured by Kleio Ltd
  • Each bottle is a 15 day supply

When purchasing from the sales websites customers are heavily encouraged (and guilt-tripped) by the website to sign up for a free trial of the company’s food tracking program. How to Take Slimae Weight Loss Vitamins

Directions for use are as follows: Take 2 capsules twice a day with water 15 mins before eating.

When customers first visit the Slimae website they are invited to complete a quiz to assess their weight loss needs. After you have completed the survey (a way to essentially get your email address), the website will ‘calculate’ the results and provide the following message:

By completing our survey we have determined your Slimae vitamins formulation.
The blend of nutrients has been precisely balanced for your specific needs.

The website then recommends the same product to customers every time; we tried the quiz several times with drastically different answers, and yet were always told that their weight loss vitamins were the ideal product for us!

The official Slimae website describes the product as having the following benefits:

  • Guarana Fruit- cleansing, endurance, weight loss
  • White kidney- carbonate blocking, fat burning
  • Vitamin C- weight loss, fat burning
  • Caffeine- fatigue reducing, endurance increasing

Does Slimae Weight Loss Vitamins Work?

Looking at the ingredients list, it is possible that Slimae Weight Loss Vitamins will aid some weight loss when combined with the right diet plan. It will not aid any weight loss when the consumer is on a completely carb-free diet, or when used with a carb-free meal. The higher the carb content of any individual meal, theoretically the more carbohydrates will be blocked from being digested and entering the blood stream. However, this also increases the chances of side effects occurring, as more unprocessed carbohydrates are passing through the bowels. Customers should always remember that the product will not block the absorption of all carbohydrates that are eaten.

One concern we have with Slimae Weight Loss Vitamins and other carb blocking products is that it is easy to overestimate the effects that it has. Consumers who are cheating on their low carb diets regularly could still put on weight or stop losing weight even whilst using the product, especially if they eat because of the diet pill. The white kidney bean extract used in the product is only proven to block the digestion of some carbohydrates consumed. Sugar and simple carbohydrates are also not typically affected by the carb-blocking ingredient.

The product also contains some caffeine, which should theoretically increase energy levels and provide a tiny boost to the consumer’s metabolic rate. However, the amount provided in each serving of two capsules is a mere 10 grams. Whilst the manufacturers claim that this is super concentrated and the equivalent of 40 mg, we are still not convinced that this is enough to make much of a difference to the consumer’s energy levels or metabolic rate.

What Are The Ingredients of Slimae Weight Loss Vitamins?

The ingredients found in Slimae Weight Loss Vitamins are detailed below. The ingredient quantities provided are per serving of two capsules. Consumers are instructed to take two capsules, twice a day, for a total of four capsules per daily serving.

  • Vitamin C 150 mg (187.5% RDA)
  • White Kidney Beans Extract 1250 mg: One study in humans showed that participants who consumed white kidney bean extract, in addition to being on a multi-component weight loss programs (diet, exercise and behavioural intervention) lost more weight when compared to those who just followed the multi-component diet.
    Source: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/17658120
  • Guarana Extract 22% Caffeine (4:1) 10 mg (providing 40 mg per tablet): Numerous studies have shown that caffeine boosts energy levels and alertness, as well as mildly boosting the metabolism. The effects shown in studies are small, and some studies are inconclusive.

  • Chromium Picolinate 30 mcg: This is used primarily to lower fasting blood sugar levels and to lower insulin levels in people who have type 2 diabetes. In terms of its potential effect upon weight loss, it is possible that taking chromium picolinate by mouth for 2 to 3 months might produce a small weight loss of about 1.1 kg. Obviously this is an incredibly small amount of weight loss, but studies are still inconclusive. It also helps to reduce insulin resistance.

Does Slimae Weight Loss Vitamins Have Any Side Effects?

It is also possible that carb-blockers may interfere with vitamin absorption. Whilst in the short-term this may not cause significant health problems the use of carb blockers should not be long-term.

There is a clear link between taking higher doses of carbohydrate blockers and an increased chance of developing side effects. There is also a clear correlation between eating very carb-heavy meals whilst using the tablets, and a high chance of side effects. Customers should consider starting with a lower dose to assess tolerance, and adjusting their diet to maximise weight loss and minimise the chances of side effects.

Side effects of caffeine can include headaches, increased heart rate, increased blood pressure, heart palpitations, increased urination, dehydration, jitteriness, dizziness and insomnia.

Chromium Picolinate can lower blood sugars levels and as such should not be used by diabetics without first consulting their doctor. Low blood sugar levels can lead to light headedness, dizziness and even fainting. Customers who have not eaten for several hours are more likely to experience these side effects.

Caution:
Not suitable for pregnant or breastfeeding women. This product will not be effective in combination with a diet containing no carbohydrates at all. Not suitable for those under the age of 18. Not suitable for anyone who is sensitive to caffeine. Not suitable for anyone who has any cardiac related health issues, including but not limited to, high blood pressure. Not suitable for long term use. Not suitable for diabetics.

Does Slimae Weight Loss Vitamins Offer a Money-Back Guarantee?

The home page of the Slimae website states that the company do offer a 30 day money back guarantee, but the terms and conditions do not support this claim!

They state in their terms and conditions:

You can cancel the Contract except for any Goods which are made to your special requirements (the Returns Right) by telling us no later than 14 calendar days from the day the Contract was entered into, if you simply wish to change your mind and without giving us a reason, and without liability, except in that case, you must return to any of our business premises the Goods in undamaged condition at your own expense. Then we must without delay refund to you the price for those Goods which have been paid for in advance, but we can retain any separate delivery charge. This does not affect your rights when the reason for the cancellation is any defective Goods.

Where Can I Buy Slimae Weight Loss Vitamins?

From Slimae.co.uk, a single bottle costs £9.99. Two bottles cost £14.99. A bulk order of 4 bottles costs £24.99. All reportedly come with free delivery and next day shipping.

Customers are encouraged to sign up for a trial of the company’s Foodae program (a meal tracking system also referred to as your personal virtual coach). It does not specify on the website how long this trial is (the terms and conditions reveal the trial is for just 3 days), but customers are then charged £20 a month until they cancel the subscription.

my-diet.co.uk, an almost identical website, operates an almost identical system, with just the prices changed. The initial bottle of the Weight Loss Vitamins costs just £1.00 (reduced from £9.99 reportedly), but customers are charged £45 a month for Foodae, the meal tracking system (after the 2 day trial ends and until the subscription is cancelled).
