Slimfy is a US based company that sells around the world. The key products are the three part weight loss program – this review is covering stage 1. Worryingly if you buy Slimfy supplements via a special promotional offer or sign up to “subscribe and save” it seems you may be caught in an auto billing contract.
Slimfy Stage 1 Detox and Weight Loss is a detox supplement that is supposed to be used as part of the 3 supplement Slimfy weight loss program in order to kick start your weight loss. However there is no evidence that this approach will work.
You will probably notice a laxative effect and this supplement could cause potentially dangerous side effects especially if you take it for a month as recommended. Slimfy has generated numerous customer complaints around auto billing so does not look like a reputable company.
Potential side effects may include, vomiting, nausea, stomach discomfort and cramps, gas, diarrhoea, increased need to urinate and dehydration. It may interact with prescription medication including the contraceptive pill.
Green Coffee Extract contains caffeine so you may get caffeine related side effects if you are sensitive such as; jitteriness, anxiety, headaches or insomnia.
Slimfy Stage 1 Detox and Weight Loss is expensive. If you buy via the Slimfy website ( the only available outlet) it costs $77.60 for 60 capsules or one month’s supply. You can also buy the full three part program from the official Slimfy website for $261.90. The current offer is for 1 x 3 product weight loss pack plus 1 free.
Be warned you may inadvertently sign up to an auto billing program if you buy direct from Slimfy.
Slimfy Stage 1 Detox and Weight Loss comes with some real concerns. This supplement contains unknown amounts of ingredients that may cause side effects. It is likely unsafe to take Hydrangea root for more than a few days yet this supplement is supposed to be taken for a full month. In addition, Slimfy Stage 1 Detox and Weight Loss contains substances that will interact with prescription medication including the contraceptive pill so could have far reaching consequences.
Slimfy appear to have dropped offering free samples as bait for signing you up to auto billing but the “Subscribe and Save” option seems to have taken its place. This is also an auto billing agreement that you may find it difficult to cancel. And why should you want repeat orders anyway, when you are only advised to take it for a month?
Overall, we believe that Slimfy Stage 1 Detox and Weight Loss is a pretty lacklustre and expensive supplement and is certainly one to avoid.

Slimfy Detox and Weight Loss is a detox supplement that the advertisers claims will kick start your body into weight loss mode. The idea is that you take this supplement for a month, before moving onto Stage 2 – Enhanced Weight Loss and finally Stage 3 – the Weight Loss Maintenance phase.
We cannot predict exactly what will happen when you take Slimfy Stage 1 because there is no clear ingredients list; the ingredients are all named but come under a proprietary blend. Each capsule contains 965mg of active ingredients, which is a lot, so shared out between just five components; it is likely to be strong.
Slimfy Stage 1 is a detox supplement and so (like most detoxes on the market) will have a laxative effect. This supplement contains Hydrangea Root and Milk Thistle Seeds in unknown quantities so will increase the amount you urinate but may cause diarrhoea as well. Although Hydrangea Root is sometimes effective for treating urinary problems there is very little information about it, regarding safety.
The other ingredients are more mainstream. Slimfy Stage 1 contains Green Coffee Bean Extract, Saffron and Ginger. Green Coffee Bean has been widely touted for weight loss and is a popular supplement ingredient. It contains caffeine too so will give your energy levels a lift. Saffron and Ginger are known to have numerous health benefits.
We covered Slimfy in a previous Watchdog review and were alarmed at what we found.
Take 1 tablet 30 minutes before meal with a glass of water. Use twice daily. Take before your main meals – for instance, before lunch and dinner.
Since our first review, the Watchdog has received numerous customer complaints about the Slimfy sales policy. Many people have mistakenly signed up to auto billing following a free sample offer and have had large amounts of money extracted from their bank cards without permission.
These days Slimfy looked to have changed slightly. The company no longer offer free samples and we have gone through the terms and conditions and can find no reference to auto billing.
However there is a “subscribe and save” option that is not explained. Subscribe and save usually means entering into a contract and although it seems to offer you discounts and special offers we strongly advise that you avoid this option. Complaints are still hitting the Watchdog office about people being signed up to Slimfy auto billing contacts.
According to the product advertising,
Stage 1 kick-starts your body into weight loss mode by unleashing it’s detoxifying agents and fat burning power. Using the highest quality ingredients …. Slimfy contains the finest quality, hand-picked Green Coffee Bean, formulated in extract form with doctor recommended 50% Chlorogenic Acid.
Detoxification should always be the first step in an effective weight loss program. Slimfy’s Stage 1 formula contains Milk Thistle, a powerful antioxidant that protects the liver from toxins. Just like Slimfy works in stages, the liver detoxifies the body in a 2-phase system, requiring specific vitamins, minerals, phytochemicals and amino acids for proper function.
There is not a shred of evidence that any of this is true. The liver does not need detoxifying and there is no 2 phase system. Taking a supplement to cause you to spend more time in the bathroom is not a sensible first step to weight loss. It is more likely to make you ill.
There is no information about where Slimfy was manufactured. It may not conform to Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP).
No, it does not work. There is no reason why you should “detox your liver” in order to lose weight, even if it were possible. The most likely effects from Slimfy Stage 1 Detox and Weight Loss will be side effects. Some of these may be potentially dangerous.
Many people believe that detoxing is good for health and for weight loss. The thinking is that taking laxatives removes so called toxins from the body and has an inner cleansing effect which is good for you.
However, detoxing has little foundation in medical fact despite the number of detox supplements on the market. Your body does not need to be spring cleaned internally. You have a whole digestive system plus liver and kidneys that can manage perfectly well without the intervention of laxatives.

The label states that each capsule is equal to 1 serving. However the product information puts this at 2 capsules per serving. We feel it is more likely to be 2 capsules per serving but be aware – this supplement could be twice as strong as stated.
Slimfy Stage 1 Detox and Weight Loss may cause side effects. These may include:
Green coffee extract contains caffeine so you may get caffeine related side effects such as;
Not suitable for individuals under 18. Avoid if pregnant or breast-feeding. Do not take if you suffer from stomach problems and seek medical advice prior to taking if you are on prescription medication. Some of the ingredients included in this supplement may cause drug interactions.
There are customer reviews posted on the Slimfy site product page. The reviews are all extremely positive but we cannot guarantee they are genuine. One typical comment,
Happy as to what this supplement is doing, not only for my digestive tract, but for my entire health.
There are also customer comments posted on Amazon USA. However these only relate to the three bottle system – the three stages of Slimfy and many of these do not seem genuine.
Out of 87 reviews, only 19 comments have been left by customers who have verified purchases so it seems that the majority of reviews are fake. Out of the genuine reviews, there are many negative comments and only 3 positive reviews.
Completely waste of money, not even a noticeable loss of weight
Just finished the 3 stages, I eat healthy, exercise and followed along as instructed but saw NO results. This may work for some but try at your own risk…
However one customer said,
I’m on Stage 1 and I have seen remarkable changes in my body. Looking forward to the next stage… Definitely will recommend it to friend.
We are never impressed with fake customer reviews and in our opinion Slimfy have been manipulating feedback. Many of the positive comments – there are 72 five star reviews are along the lines of,
I bought all three stages couple weeks ago. Shipping was lightning fast. I started right away with detox stage and noticed the difference. After couple of days. I felt less bloated and gained significant amount of energy, also I don’t crave as much as I did before. Loving it
Most reviewers report the same and it is unconvincing.
