Containing only natural ingredients, you get the impression that the teatox is good for health, but is this misleading? Is any teatox really safe and if not, does Somatox offer something different.
We take an in depth look at Somatox Ultimate Teatox to find out more.
Teatoxes are popular right now. They seem to provide an easy and healthy way to revitalise your general health, energy levels and appearance. Sometimes we all need a lift and taking a teatox seems to provide a straightforward and easy way of achieving this.
Somatox comprises of two tea blends. You take the Daytime tea each morning and the Night Time blend every other evening over a 14-day or 28-day period.
The Day Time blend looks good at first glance. It contains green tea and Ashwagandha root – more commonly known as Indian Ginseng, so should give you an energy lift in the morning.
The other ingredients include super fruit, Goji berry and celery leaf both rich sources of antioxidants. It contains Indian plant Gotu Kola – which may be effective at improving circulation. There are rose petals, lemongrass and chamomile, which may help you feel calm and unstressed as well as creating a pleasant light flavour.
The final ingredient is dandelion leaf, which is well known for causing a diuretic effect so you may find that you will need the bathroom more frequently than usual. Of course, effects will depend upon the strength of the ingredients – information which is not provided.
The Night Time blend is different and it does look strong. It contains three laxatives Senna leaf, cassia seeds and lotus leaf, so this will be the predominant effect. It also contains two green tea blends plus chamomile.
This blend does not seem very suitable for taking close to bedtime.
Green tea contains caffeine so if you are accustomed to avoiding caffeine at night, you may find that the Night time blend keeps you awake. In addition, it seems odd to take laxatives before you sleep too. Senna and Cassia especially are strong and you cannot guarantee that their effects will wait until next morning to kick in.
In fact, the only listed ingredient here with any benefit to getting a good night’s sleep is chamomile.
Somatox Ltd is a relatively new UK company based in Wakefield Yorkshire that was set up in 2014. They describe themselves as “a passionate group of guys and girls that love all things healthy and good for our body.”
Somatox market a range of weight loss supplements.
As well as various tea blends including Skinny Teatox and Mr T Tox, there is the Ultimate Colon Cleanse, which you take for three months, a T5 Maximum Strength Fat Burner and supplements containing Garcinia Cambogia, Raspberry Ketone supplements and more.
There are no associated scam issues with Somatox. The company sell direct from the website as well as via some well-known outlets including Amazon and Weight World.
We have not covered Somatox supplements before. However, we do often review teatox supplements.
For maximum effects and best results, it is recommended that you follow the Somatox regime and drink every morning and every other evening
Take your Teatox tea bag and pop it into your favourite mug! Pour near boiling water into the cup and then leave the tea to diffuse for around 3-5 minutes. You are advised that you can add honey, lemon, cinnamon or similar if you wish to improve the flavour.
According to the Somatox information, the name “Soma means to squeeze juice from, and the word Tox comes from the word Detox. Together this created the name Somatox.”
The tea is described as a “unique formula helps to cleanse your body of toxins and impurities, leaving you with more energy in every day life.”
The principle benefits are as follows:
- Packed full of antioxidants
- Helps promote the feeling of fullness
- Increases energy levels
- Improve your skin and encourages a healthy glow
- Cleans, revives and rejuvenates your body from the inside out
- 14 day and 28 day variety packets
- Contains ingredients that can potentially maintain weight loss
- Hand picked plants and herbs with ingredients from around the world
There is some information about the benefits of each ingredient but oddly, this includes ingredients, which are not even included in the teatox such as dates, mustard leaf and liquorice root.
The reason is that the various Somatox teas all look very similar but contain slightly different ingredients profiles making it extremely confusing for the customer.
In addition, there is no comprehensive ingredients list and no links to any clinical evidence to prove any of these claims.
Somatox Ultimate Teatox is a teatox programme that comprises of two tea blends. You drink a cup of the Daytime blend each morning and a cup of the Night time blend every other evening.
Quantities are not provided so information here is only a general overview of the various ingredients.
Teatox Morning Tea
Teatox Evening Tea
The Daytime Tea may give you a lift with the combination of green tea and Ashwaghanda root although we cannot see much, if any point for taking chamomile in the morning, or for taking the diuretic dandelion root either. After all most of us manage to pee unaided without the need of any assistance!
Rose petals may help your complexion if you use them on your face but unlikely to do anything at all when taken internally in tea.
However, we have more serious concerns about the Night time blend. Three strong laxatives combined with green tea are very unlikely to give you a peaceful and uninterrupted night’s sleep.
Overall, we cannot see any benefit to this teatox either for health or for weight loss. Of course, you may show up temporarily lighter on the scales following all those laxatives but it will not help you lose body fat. In addition, there is a strong risk of dehydration and other side effects.
Teatox teas can interfere with the contraceptive pill so this could be a side effect you didn’t bargain for.
Somatox Ultimate Teatox does not come with any warnings provided by Somatox but this does not mean it is safe.
Potential side effects may include:
Not suitable for individuals under 18. Avoid if you are pregnant or breast feeding. Do not use if you are trying to conceive because some of the ingredients (Ashwaghanda and Lotus leaf) can cause miscarriage and menstrual bleeding. If you are using the contraceptive pill, you may need to use alternative methods of birth control throughout the detox.
Speak to your doctor first if you suffer from an underlying medical condition or are taking prescription medication because of the risk of interactions.
There are only a couple of customer feedback comments for Somatox Ultimate Teatox.
One customer reported:
Been using this tea as an aid to lose weight for my wedding. Can’t believe how tasty it is for a herbal tea and moreover effective! Really recommend it to all my friends and anyone who wants results.
Another customer said:
Feel cleansed arrived quick.
Despite the couple of positive customer comments, Somatox Ultimate Teatox is not going to be effective as a health supplement or for weight loss and looks similar to all the others on the market.
Teatoxes are popular but there is zero evidence that they do anything apart from cause unpleasant side effects.
Stay on a teatox for too long and you can run the risk of becoming dehydrated or dependent on laxatives for bowel movements.
It is not just us who are saying this. Health experts are unanimous in their condemnation of teatoxes. As the American Dietetic Association spokesperson speaking in an interview with Fitness magazine stated:
Our bodies have organs such as the liver, kidneys, skin, lungs, and digestive system to remove these unnecessary substances every day without the help of any special detox diet or potions to help it along.
We have covered the rise of teatox phenomenon in a couple of Watchdog investigations.
You cannot buy Somatox Ultimate Teatox in the shops and stores but it is available online from a choice of outlets. One of these is supplements retailer Weight World.

You can also buy Somatox Teatox direct from the Somatox website. That said there is a selection of very similar looking teas. The Ultimate Teatox, SkinnyTox but none that correspond exactly to the ingredient profile described on Weight World, which is very confusing.
Prices for all teatoxes are the same as via Weight World.
Somatox teas are available via Amazon UK.
Somatox Ultimate Teatox (identical to the product we have reviewed) costs £19.99 for 14 days supply (14 Daytime teabags, 7 Night time tea bags)
28 Days supply (28 Daytime teabags, 14 Night time teabags) costs £34.99
Somatox Ultimate Teatox does not come with a guarantee.
We are not impressed with Somatox Ultimate Teatox or any of the other teatox teas provided by this company.
Teatox teas are not a way to make you healthier and thinner. Somatox Ultimate Teatox is just like all the others on the market and contains a blend of laxatives on top of some herbal extracts. As with all teatoxes, Somatox Ultimate Teatox is big on advertising but zero evidence that it will work in the way as described.
Taking laxatives is not recommended and has no benefit to health unless you suffer from constipation and have been advised to do so by your doctor.
We also think that the Somatox product range is confusing and that the teas are expensive.
Our advice is to leave Somatox well alone and save your money. If you want to try some healthy teas why not look at green tea blends or chamomile without the added ingredients? That way you could get some benefit for much less cost and without risking your health.
It is an easy decision. We reject Somatox Ultimate Teatox.
